The Guitar Player Thread.

It's the shredder in me. I like a thin, flat neck with minimal radius. Both of my ESPs are also neck-through.

Sounds great, @Sandman98 ! That SG looks good on you!

New Guitar for me too, well Bass actually. It's been in my possession for a few months but I finally coughed up the dough and own it now. 2007 USA-Made Fender Jazz Bass. While it looks glossy in the photo, it's actually a matte finish which I have never seen on a Fender before. Got it from my buddy Gary who has a collection of Fender Basses. He apparently prefers his vintage 1970's guitars and didn't really care for this one that much. I on the other hand, am in love with it and convinced him to sell it to me. He threw in that Ampeg Micro as well.

Love the SG's ..
The SG is the signature guitar of one Tony Iommi. Perhaps my most favorite player.
I have seen Hendrix play one also on video's.
Not sure about the fancy golden one...
So I bought an Ibanez..rg series awesome guitar. very fast so easy to play..
Soundz ok,.has designed by emg humbuckers in it. They make this noise after I stop I am not crazy about. Jury is still out..I just love the way it plays..
I tried an Epi Prophecy which is the sg model with emg p/u's.
Awesome guitar and all I could think about was finally getting one like my idol's..
had the thinner neck but it was kinda wide..I fumbled wit it a bit. UGH..
Plus the sg's are weird it's like the bottom of the frets are higher up in position. When compared to the rg series fender type I play now. Or even the les paul I used to own..
Got a little vyper amp.
It's ok.at low volume. turn it up and it gets noisey.I tried a few Blackstar amps
A ht40 and a club 60 they have that's used for 599.
both have celestion speakers.the smaller one has one and the 60 has 2..
I really like the 60 but it is heavy as hell..
Here's the deal if I buy the smallwer one I can carry it around so I would return the viper for a 180 dollar credit and then get the amp for 319 minus 180=130..
If I get the larger one I would have to keep the smaller vyper. but it will cost me the full 599..
but I wont be drowned out by my friends...hahaha
Gonna play with a few friends tonite should be interesting to say the least..

CD nice bass I always wanted to play one.I think I am a natural bass guy at heart..

Wow, just saw this thread.
I'll have to upload some licks and tunes.
My arsenal consists of:
1995 Gibson Les Paul Studio. Wine red, gold hardware, cream plastics. It has Sheptone AB Custom pickups as well as 50's wiring, Russian PIO caps, and switchcraft switch. It's my #1 guitar.
2016 Gibson SG Standard T. Heritage Cherry. It's actually for sale in the classifieds here if anyone is interested. All stock, Gibson 490R/498T pickups, nice rounded profile neck (not slim taper, but it does feel like a "fast" neck).
(Selling because I have my eye on a Custom Shop R7 - 57 reissue Les Paul, goldtop, that a music store has)
2010 Taylor 314CE. Awesome acoustic. Solid spruce top, Solid sapele back and sides, ebony fretboard. The top is starting to darken a bit in color, which is nice. Plays great, sounds awesome.

An arsenal of pedals.

Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue 40 watt all tube amp. It sings. Fender amps have really nice cleans.
Orange Crush 20 Watt solid state. One of the best solid state amps I've heard...it sounds like a tube amp. Small and lightweight but loud.

Thanks for the vivid descriptions. How bout some pics now? 😉

I have the 214ce. Played a few 315ce's but couldn't justify the $700 price jump from the 214ce to the 314ce at the time.

Wine Red is the nicest looking finish in the LP studio line IMO. Its so rich that I don't even notice the lack of binding.

Lol, I'll post some pics later.
An all solid wood acoustic was important to me, so that's why I went with the 3 series. And when I got it, it was much cheaper than what they are now. It was priced at $1400 new (talked the price down a bit and ended up paying $1200 total)...Taylor jacked their prices up quite a bit in the last 6 years.

Yeah wine red is a nice deep color. The edges of the maple cap are a lighter shade so it looks like a faux binding.

Probably like 4 people on this forum actually watch these, but I don't care. The process of creating is what makes it so much fun.

Been piecing this together bit-by-bit over the course of the last 3 weeks. Super groovy funk riff I wrote on the bass first, adding the icing to the cake afterwards. I use 7 guitars not because I have to, just because I can. It’s all about the shits n’ giggles.

Enjoy.

Nicely done! What video app do you use to lay over each other? I want to learn how to make vids like this

I think you're right at 4!! I spend 2 weeks learning a 10 second lick and get 2 likes. We get it, no one else will.

I don't have any real editing software. I just use the iMovie app that came with my Mac. It's pretty limited in its capabilities so I hack around it. Those multi-windows for instance - iMovie only allows you to create one extra window on top of the picture, So every time I want to add another window, I export the project then re import as a new flattened clip and so on. This one required 12 versions.

I see. I have imovie in my iphone. I want to learn the multi window video so i can play along and make the rythm section. Thanks

An audience of one is enough. most times we play for ourselves anyway..
Nicely done.
I call that one "A tree falls"

is the blue guitar a ovation ?
it seems to have the best action.

Yeah. I have had that Ovation for many years. It was birthday present from my mom when I was 15 years old. It's one of the Korean Made models, nothing special. Lot of sentimental value to me though. Gigged with it extensively back in the day when I used to play solo acoustic gigs all the time.

Yes the action is great. It developed a slight neck hump where the the fretboard meets the body so theres a few dead notes after the 15th fret. Only in the winter time though. Once spring roles around and humidity levels rise, the problem usually goes a way. A neck reset would fix it but I ain't spending that kind of money to repair a Korean made Ovation...

Sounds like a tin can unplugged because of the thin body but plugged in, it cuts like a knife.

had my hands on a KH2 25 today. played ok with old strings.
I thought the action was better on my Ibanez but I think it could have been set up better..
@ 428 $ I might by it. they had a dean V that was awesome but he wanted 7oo for it..
The V kinda sits funny when I sit down and play..= 90 percent of the time.
The thing had them dimebuckers on it that sounded great..
