guitar peeps, I'd love your help. I know nothing about guitars and would like to buy my brother-in-law a gift for his 50th. My niece was able to collect this info:

"my dad said he wanted a fender 62 strat with a rosewood neck and the sunburst color"

What does this mean and is this guitar available for purchase somewhere?

are talking something like this crazy priced guitar?

Who doesn't want an actual 1962 Strat, other than @Steve Vai? Yes, expect to pay 5 figures. Or get a 62 reissue that started being made in 1982, same year as mine. It's a beauty, but not for sale. Ha. You'll find many on Reverb though.

I asked for a Steve Vai Universe for my 50th, maybe I should’ve aimed higher 😂
 
Picked the guitar back up again, it’s been about a year since I had to put it down because of thumb pain, tenosynovitis the doc said but the shot he gave me made it worse for months. The worst of it is in my fretting hand so I’m gonna need to be mindful of not using it to support the neck. Problems from years of mechanical work plus I really put some hurt on them doing some wood working last year, using card scrapers specifically. 🤞

I have nerve damage in both hands from the Ultra stuff. You can still get the job done changing technique and such. The only thing I really lost was being able to Alternate Pick at stupid shredder speeds like a decade ago. Same thing happened to Steve Morse if you watch him play now you see how he moves his whole hand to pick instead of twisting his wrist
