The Guitar Player Thread.

I have nerve damage in both hands from the Ultra stuff. You can still get the job done changing technique and such. The only thing I really lost was being able to Alternate Pick at stupid shredder speeds like a decade ago. Same thing happened to Steve Morse if you watch him play now you see how he moves his whole hand to pick instead of twisting his wrist
So far so good.

Ironically, I think picking up the guitar again when I was 40 (I took guitar as my music class in high school) drastically improved / helped repair the damage to my own hands. I was at the point where I could barely handle using tools. It just seemed to be the ideal therapy, after a year of playing I didn’t have any cramping or ringing in my hands anymore.

I saw that Rick Beato episode a year ago and I felt sad. Steve was always a guitar hero of mine since the Dixie Dregs days. I saw him live a couple of times and was tempted to buy his EBMM guitar when that came out (I got the Van Halen model in '93 instead).

Currently taking lessons on Patreon from Dean and Per. Dean to level up technique and Per to get deeper into Theory and branch into other Genres. His teaching style is so good, I have his Guitar Messenger Course and that was worth every penny. Also helps he looks like me 😂
