Moving this all to a more appropriate thread. Feel free to pile on.

You all have the green light to trash me in any way/shape/form that you like. If you think All has a point, that I'm a big baby, please go ahead and fire away. Just do it here and keep it reasonably clean.

Im more concerned with the fact that I cant find Spicy Thai food in Connecticut. I say, "Can I have that hot and spicy?" and they say, "OK". Then I get home and its all bland with no heat. Im on myt 5th place with the same result. WTF?

It's not Thai, but good Indian can be had at Thali in Ridgefield.
Order up the vindaloo and tell them you want it hot-
not that Sally stuff they serve the tourists...

Please delete my membership Norman.

I've locked you out as requested.

I've apologized to Al via email and asked him to stay on the board. My response was uncalled for. I'm sorry to have posted it but I'm not going to delete it. What's said cannot be unsaid, and it landed in the trash as it should have. I apologize to everyone for having to read that. I'll try to do better.

Al,
Please stay, I enjoy what you have to say...and I think you enjoy being heard, like everyone else.

+ your better off staying here, at least then you'll have a chance to fuck with Norm sublty and creativly.

We don't all have to be best friends, but we can be civil.

I like Becks.

jeezus dude, just read all this. TSS numbers way off or something this morning? cat pee in your almonds? were they out of stawberry protein powder??

Norm, I didn't follow exactly what you two are squabbling about but...

Al appears to have a much larger understanding of pro road racing. Many of your comments reflect those of a football armchair QB. The stuff that goes on in cycling behind the camera gets pretty deep. National pride, doping, politics, contracts, unwritten stuff.

40 years ago, great champions won everything. The sport has been tainted by specificity. Racers now train to perform well in only select events that suit their individual strengths. To those with a historical perspective, that is boring.

Cav is the fastest sprinter now. 5 years ago Pettachi was doing the same thing. 10 years ago, Mario Chipollinni showed everyone how to form a leadout train. He would do the first week of the TdF, win nearly every stage, and then drop-out as soon as the road went up and laugh about it. He has something like 60 stage wins in grand tours. He also was so flamboyant that he makes Cav look shy.

None of these guys compare to the great champions of the past. Newbs trying to make comparisons often lead to frustration for those of us that have been paying attention for decades.

Appreciate the post Ben, though I think that could/should be in the other thread since it's hardly garbage.

As much as it seems I might not, I do understand this. But isn't the nature of learning, to ask questions?

For the record, Cavendish was the one comparing himself to Armstrong and Merckx. That was in the article I linked before I asked the question. Cavendish specifically says:

“[I want to] write my name in the history of cycling alongside those of Merckx, Hinault, Armstrong,” Cavendish said. “How many names are in there? Twenty? Thirty? I don’t know. But I want mine to be in there some day too. It’s simply a question of standing, of position.”

+1 for Al staying. Come on Al, dont take it too personally, its just the internet. I think it was my newbie question that started all of this, so I feel somewhat responsible. At least stick around to anwser my stupid questions about the tour of colorado please! 🙂

uh oh this isn't going too well. Can we do what the stock market does and shut down when the shit is hitting the fan? Seriously I have been out of the loop all day and just sort of got caught up reading some of this and my fresh eyes thinks this got way out of hand. Everyone needs to sleep on this topic.

F'n roadies, always startyin stuff. Keep the topics mtb related, there's much less pecker swingin. Well, until somebody uses a camera with a bright flash🙄😀
