The Best Stem I Ever Had Was...

why use electrical tape? there is a thing such as shrink tubing....... no?
I like that idea, but you would have to have planned ahead and put the tubing on the bar before you installed your brifters.

I guess you could take it one step further and put on a few pieces of tubing and just wrap the extras under the tape so they are there for when you replace your bar tape.

Sounds like a major production.

This puts @soulchild's tape job to shame.

Not sure I like the look. To you do the trick where you cut it with a razor blade?
If you take the time to cut the angle right there is no need for the razor, tho if I need to square it off with a razor I will before I put on the electrical tape.

Oh snap. Looks like McMaster is going to be getting an order for some heat shrink tubing. Why didn't I think of this sooner?

If anyone wants to see the worst bar tape jobs on the plant I can show off my bikes.

major production.... yes i agree, however that look on their face when they see how PRO you are.... priceless.. haha
also, they do make shrink tape. and neoprene shrink tubing which would be so dope..... with the sun beating down on electrical tape, the adhesive can make a mess all over and its a pain in the rear to remove that crud--- talk about process

I aspire to finish bar tape as cleanly as my friend Matt Roy, husband of pro cylocrosser Mo Bruno Roy.

First time wrap game on fleek. Right side didn't even make it to the electrical tape holding the brake line. Didn't need those tops anyway...

If you can beat this, @rick81721 , I don't know what to say.

Rear brake and rear derailleur cables have at least 2inches of waste. Just sayin!

I'd like to see how clean the routing is under the bars.

At least the tape blends in with the bars. For your viewing pleasure (note the totally unmatching green pull tie holding a magnet on the left side of the fork). Also there's a gap in the tape under the left shifter

I guess if the electrical tape is going to touch the bars, minus will go all out.
