tattoos...

Please everyone, post pics 30-40 years from now of all this ink, so we can all post what we see on the MTB Rorschach Test. 😀

In 30-40 years, we won't be posting anything. The internet will be injected into our minds as we serve our superior machine overlords by feeding them emotional brain waves from which they shall draw energy.

I have a couple of tattoos (one on each shoulder.) I'd have more but my personal rule for getting them done is that I have to design them myself and I'm really lazy about that sort of thing. The MTB one I have took me a few years of tweaking to get the design right. And I've been working on a design for another one for about a year now and haven't gotten it just right yet.

I don't usually like ones that are just designs (tribal or otherwise) -- they have to be something that even if they get old and wrinkly, I'll be able to explain what they mean. But I do admit that some of those pure design ones can be cool. One of my all time favorite design tattoos is the one that Tom Commerford from RATM had -- the design itself was the negative space after he had his shoulders colored in.

I have one tattoo that I got when I was 19 after my friend was killed at Club Bene. He had a half sleeve so a bunch of us took the main premise of his sleeve and did a tribute.

My band played that show, terrible day. I have all the newspaper clippings and such related to it. It was our drummer's cymbal stand that got thrown.

-Jim.

Sorry to hear about that, I worked for the throwee a few years ago. IMO the wrong guy died.

Great looking Boston by the way. I had a Boston for 15 years and it takes a while for them to mellow out. The first 10 was just play, play, play. Great dogs! Nice tattoo also. I have one around my ankle that is tribal but I did it to remind me to 'do the right thing'.

i think i'm up to nine now?

i've been thinking about a 1/2 sleeve for the better part of two years and just still haven't figured it out. it's going to be a tribute piece to my cousin who died from sarcoidosis (and having fucking fungus (fungus?!!?) growing in his lungs...) two years ago. the real motherfucker of it all is if he hadn't quit smoking he'd probably still be alive. 🙁

miss him every damn day. sorry.

continue.

In 30-40 years from now, my last concern is gonna be what my tattoos look like

Get some tattoos of hookers and blow, so you'll be able to remind yourself what you need to do when you wake up in 30-40 years.

Sort of like Perry the Platypus writing "I fight evil" on his chest so when Doof brain washed him he could remember his mission in life when he looked in the mirror.

Such a strange confluence of items there.

The amazing thing is...it made sense.

I'm hoping to get some pics of my wife's work, just to add to the thread. She'll probably have to be sleeping and I would have some explaining to do!😀

I have a piece I want done, little bit of this and that in my life. Glad to see some recommendations here as I have no clue who to have do it.
Kinda glad I never got a hobby theme done, as I've picked up and dropped so many over the years. Motorcycles pretty much the only constant. I guess a sprocket works both ways!:hmmm:

Marley, without getting too personal what does the Tiki mean for you?

Dude you know I had to google this 🙂 I was more thinking along the lines of "momento"
why can't cartoons be simple like when I was a kid, I mean you knew the roadrunner was always going to get away..
BTW: wasn't there a thread on tattoos a few years ago?

Actually Phineas & Ferb have a lot in common with Bugs Bunny in that it's entertaining for both kids & adults. BB had a lot of sly adult lines in there, same with P&F.

Yes, there was another thread. But I was too lazy to look for it.

good question - no significant meaning really - i always have liked them though and have several poolside tiki items - i think they are mysterious in a way and i just like the intense affect they portray - but the less longwinded answer is i think they look cool

i'm a sh1ts and giggles guy though when it comes to tattoos though

my first was only a few years ago - "plankton" from spongebob - totally on a goof - but wait it gets better - it gets infected - skin starts falling off my leg and then i have to get tested for hep and hiv, etc - we laughingly refer to this as my tatastrophe - so obviously i never went back to that guy (not blaming him - but i was told by several who saw it afterwards that the guy 'chewed me up' and that was the reason for the issue)

then i head to spencer at Broadway with my plankton based scar tissue - he did a nice bob marley cover up on it - it wasnt easy because tatting scar tissue is a challenge obviously

but generally - i'm down to get just about anything i think might look cool - i dont worry about regretting it later because - well - who cares right - i'm always down to goof on myself a little

anyway - i'm happy with the tiki and def looking forward to getting more work done - i have an idea of the sleeve but still thinkin on my next one for the opposite leg

Totally agree. One of the best cartoons of the modern bunch. The "There's A Platypus Controlling Me" episode is an instant classic.
