Strictly METAL

I've been listening to it a bunch on Spotify trying desperately to find something good about it. I really wanted it to be great. Today it didn't make it through the second song before one of my 60+ year-old co-corkers complained of it being boring. That's basically my issue with it as well, it just has no drive. A bunch of the riffs are super cool but it just feels like it drags out too much.

-Jim.

Sound this good when years old 800 you are! (say it in yoda voice)

I know the Geoff Tate departure was discussed on here at length a few months ago but the Tate-less Queensryche CD dropped today; I've heard snippets and it's really not bad...

I've wondered how long a guy like Lemmy would last.
There is only so much smoking, drinking, and drugging that you can do before your body just calls it quits.
I would love if he lasted forever, continued making badass music, and touring relentlessly. Motorhead puts on one of my favorite live shows.
I just read this: http://www.metalinjection.net/lates...after-lemmy-suffers-from-unspecified-hematoma

Let's hope that it's just a 'hiccup' and not a sign of worse things to come.

I was keeping this under wraps because I wasnt sure if it was gonna happen, but it did.

Through some odd twist of events my good friend became friendly with Ron Lipnicki (the drummer) of Overkill. This past Saturday we went to Stage 48 in NYC as guests of Overkill, VIP, meet and greet, etc. We got in early for the meet and greet, got to meet Bobby, Derek and DD from Overkill, as well as the guys from Kreator. Standing there, my friend thought it was a little weird that the guy who had invited us wasnt there, but oh well. Meet and greet ends, and they allow us down into the club before anyone else so we grab a spot right above the stage (this is a 2 tier place). 5 minutes later my friend gets a call, "holy shit, lets go", next thing I know Im on Overkills bus.

Good times there, beers, shots, dopey pictures. I posted a bunch of stuff over on the FB, none of my pictures were that great, like I said, dopey stuff. I'm not really a "hey man can I get a pic" type of person so I have none of us with any of the bands. As Im on this bus drinking beers, I realize that one of the guys down a ways I know from way back. We used to play basketball together at a local park and it turns out he is the singer in an Overkill side project Speed. Kill. Hate.

All in all, it was a great night. This isnt my video, but this chick was next to us the whole night and posted this video.

HELLO FROM THE GUTTER!!!
Hell yeah!

That's friggin' awesome!!!

Now I'm all amped up! Just put on some Overkill!!! Love this stuff!!!

I'm sooooooooo jealous. One of the greatest bands ever! I may just crank the Marshall up tonite and treat the block to a few bars of Elimination as a tribute:getsome:

Very cool, Walter. I'm trying to remember which shitty Rt. 9/35 venue my brother and I saw them at when the 1st record broke. I think it was Mingles.

I know we saw Testament/Hades/E-X-E/Lethal Aggression there at some point as well. I was working in a sneaker store in Brunswick Square at the time, and Chuck Billy and some of the other Testament dudes came in that afternoon to try on Reebok high-tops. How stoked was I? Haha.

Overkill!!! That's awesome Walter!

I saw them at the Asbury Park Metal Fest many moons ago. It was Overkill and then Manowar for the close. Good stuff.

Lance, ChrisG, Joe and I think Brett, you guys all should have access to the pics I posted on the fb. Feel free to check em out.

I posted a video over there that my friend took. At one point during Kreators set, Millie separates the floor from left to right, next thing he does is tell everyone to go bonkers and with that both sets of people ran full steam into each other. I sometimes forget that Kreator have been around just as long ad Overkill, they are also full of energy for their age 😀

I was off today and spent a ton of money on Christmas gifts for the family, I felt the need to treat myself.

Since my trip to NYC a few weeks ago Ive been on a thrash kick, and after hearing a lot about it, I picked up the new Carcass cd. Its gotten tons of great reviews and publicity, and I can see why, its friggin brutal. Listened t the whole thing on my way to the store and its really good.

I also got the new Warbringer cd. These guys opened the show for Kreator and Overkill, and they were really good. Whats cool is that they are young, probably in their mid 20's or so and they play like an 80's thrash band. These guys probably werent even alive in the 80's.

Anyway, this song stuck out from the show. The cd sounds a little generic and unrefined, but I guess after listening to an hour of Carcass most discs would sound that way.

Warbringer- Scars Remain.

I love Overkill, but I think Years of Decay is their best album.

Check out Amon Amarth if you haven't already, start with Twilight of the Thunder God. Good old Viking metal.

Happy Birthday to the God we call Lemmy!
May we all be lucky to be rocking as hard as he does at his age

Wholesome video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUJ0IYZKLvE

This one kicks my ass every time I hear it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlecTBevmzc

Yes , Happy Birthday Lemmy. Great videos, love Overkill , the song that never wants to end. Had a friends band Kremin which did the Motorhead tribute thing for a while. They would do this ending over and over again for their last song until eventually the sound person would cut them off. It seemed to last forever - lol , good times.
