Strictly METAL

I've been pretty good about making a playlist of 4-5 new bands every week and listening to their stuff...

This week I found 2 bands I really like, Disperse and Vildhjarta. They're complete opposites of each other but both are amazing.

This week also included...

Breakdown of Sanity
Monuments
Obscura

a positive sign today (literally), the digital billboard in front of Starland Ballroom is up and running, advertising shows. They may be the shows that were programmed into it before the storm, but whatevs, at least the place is moving forward. Plus, all the remediation trucks are gone so hopefully things will be up and running soon. Im friends with the girl that works there, I really should just email her :hmmm:

They have a bunch of show listings that start in September, though I think they're looking to open before that.

The holiday Clutch show is December 27, see you there.

I've been listening to Kyuss all day.
That is all I have to report for now.

Edit: Now I'm on to High on Fire.

I need to start a thread called STRICTLY METAL THAT JIM VREELAND HATES. And post my love for bands that makes Lance cry.
I've listened to "The Broken Vow" at least 40 times this week. It might be the most perfect song ever recorded.

I'LL TAKE MY LOVE TO THE GRAVE

We can't help that we don't like Nickleback or 5-Finger Death Punch as much as you do.

Luke, If I were put in charge of making the greatest supergroup of all time, it would consist of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart.

Oh, wait. That group already exists.

Not metal by any means, but are any of you going to the stone pony this Saturday to see the social distortions?

Any thoughts on the new Black Sabbath?

I was honestly expecting it to be a huge disappointment, but have been pleasantly surprised with how much I'm enjoying listening to the vast majority of the new songs (bonus tracks don't do much for me, though). Yeah, it would have been better if Bill Ward was drumming on the album, but Brad Wilk fit in quite well, and there is some degree of rehashing/retooling old riffs and themes, but the Ozzy/Sabbath reunion album finally came to fruition.

Never thought we'd see the day...

its been on repeat top to bottom, and growing well on me. Probably the most refreshing album in a long time for me...

I can't begin to properly explain the importance of Black Sabbath in my life, but I've been utterly non-interested in this, mainly because of Ozzy being such a mess.

I guess eventually I need to give it a proper listen.

I've been listening to it a bunch on Spotify trying desperately to find something good about it. I really wanted it to be great. Today it didn't make it through the second song before one of my 60+ year-old co-corkers complained of it being boring. That's basically my issue with it as well, it just has no drive. A bunch of the riffs are super cool but it just feels like it drags out too much.

Thanks to this thread, been on repeat all day. Granted, I have been in n out of the office. It is not getting me too excited. :hmmm:
