Stephens State Park Conditions

Went to Stephens today and hit 1 mile in/out of Lower Maze, and 1/2 mile in/out at the NICA Trail (Blue Rock) with loppers and a corona saw. I focused mostly on branches in 4 different spots that were low enough for a helmet to bang on. On my walk out, I did spend some time using the corona saw as a machete to cut down any face slappers and thorn bushes. One of these days I'll get a gas or battery powered hedge trimmer, so I can do more. Doing what I can for now. Here are some before and after photos.

Get a battery hedge trimmer. Way lighter and they last a longgg time. I do actually have an echo one for sale.

Thanks for your hard work!

I'm heading out this upcoming weekend, I can grab a power tool if you'd like to meet me out there Friday or Sunday AM.

Thanks for your reply! I think I can meet you there Friday morning (5/23). I'll have a better idea around Weds if I can. I'm like 90 percent sure that I can. It would be great to help you out.

Sunday - I can not do.

Friday is better for me as well. I'll pm you and grab your number so we can coordinate.

Today I visited Stephens, from two trailheads. The first from near the Trestle. The second from the Station road lot. The red waypoints were all cleared. My paths shown in Purple. My direction marked by red arrows. I'd say I'm all caught up in Stephens but while I was driving home, new reports came in (some small 4-6" ones on Hally Toe). If somebody can whack them out with a handsaw, lmk.

We'll get them on Friday

I would like to join you but... I have a commitment on Friday. Anyway, I recommend bringing the Stephens gas Hedge trimmer and the Combi aka (hedge trimmer on a stick) that I returned to Bill. Those things are INTEGRAL to brushing Stephens! Hopefully I'll get out next time.

All good Steve, I'll PM you next time we're doing a trail day. Going to get some Intel tomorrow AM.
