Stephens State Park Conditions

I brushed back that section about a month ago, few pages back in this thread.

“Brushed back the black tunnel trail and the first half of canal lower to continental.”

Bill and I took care of the trees today (with a hand chain)🥵 on Vistar, Under the Mulch, and Mulch Pit Upper.--on our way back from taking care of a few trees in Mooch (Lumpy, etc). The double on Under the Mulch sucked. It took 4 cuts with the hand chain.

Upper Mulch:

The ONLY trees I'm still tracking in Stephens are one on the Orange climb from the Ranger Station, and one on White Burgermeister. Please correct me if there are others.

Where the red markings are. The fella in the pic told me the one he’s pictured with was there a week ago. The second (on the way to upper maze) apparently is new. I didn’t get a picture but it will need a chainsaw. About the same size at the on pictured.

Sorry. A could have sworn I posted the map pic of the pink tree down location. My bad.

Two down on Rouge

One on vistar near the warehouse.

That's all I saw

Matt is tracking the ones on Rogue/DP. We took care of the Vistar ones on Friday (unless a new one since then). Location on Blue? More towards Chimney or the other end?

The one on blue is kind of in the middle/it’s not even big enough to even count, but I figured I’d note it.

I think you guys got Vistar actually/I may be confusing rides that I did now that I think about it


I’m pretty sure that we saw one down of a pretty good size on white Burgermeister on Sunday as well

I’ll just take the time to reiterate how awesome the job you guys are doing to keep this park system clear

I’m in the middle of a big project right now at chimney rock but I’ll get back to Stevens again and do some more work in the future

Thanks! Yeah, got Vistar. Burgermeister is on list for today.

After today, Deer Park and Stephens should be 99% clear of trees. Then I think we should focus on Mooch.

Oh yea. Forgot about that one on blue. It wasn’t too big and easy to get over, but yea.
The one on blue is maybe 150 feet in from white.
 
This afternoon, @Hungusoutdoors and I cleared most remaining targets at Stephens. We took care of Orange, Golden extension, White Burgermeister, tuned up White Rubbly Climb, and got both trees on Middle Maze. The only known trees remaining at Stephens is a small one on Blue (rideable, hand saw?) and (2) back to back on Canal Lower to Continental Dr.
