Smokey & the Bandit Extended Online Race

Wednesday
Just gonna do what I do and hope I am not in last place since people actually ride alot more than me when it isn't cold out.

4 point for the 2 hours. Wind was not in question today. Steady wind in the teens with higher gusts. Started to rain lightly 33min into my ride, just on the edge of princeton. Heavier light rain on the other side of princeton and through rocky hill. Then on and off til I got home. Whatever that counts for, it was by no means a soaking rain and Dave can score it as he sees fit.

I have a foolproof plan for if I fall too far off the pace.

On each double day, I'm going to go for the maximum number of points by stopping my Garmin and re-starting a new ride every 45 minutes. That way, I can ride 4 hours and get credited for five. Four hours for 20 points. Boom!

I am also going to take an a$$-ton of PEDs ...

Nice ride Kevin (again) -
You got the wheel size set correctly? 😀 :jealous:
(since i don't see cadence, it is probably moot)

yeah, i was wondering about this - since it is not in the spirit of the game, no can do 😛

suggest do it this way, (pro div)

2:30 + 0:16 = 2 hours (lame second ride - unless on a unicycle at 13mph)
2:30 + 0:46 = 3 hours (good second ride, crosses 2:45 boundry)
2:45 + 0:46 = 3 hours (good rides, doesn't cross 3:45 boundry)

46+46+46+46 = 3 hours. + 46 = 4 hours

bonus for averaging over 25mph tho

getting the bike clothes on now....this should be interesting.

Thanks. I only have the wheel sensor on my synapse, which I rode my all-city today. This MPH is based soley on GPS. I am just getting warmed up 🙂.

Now here is what I have for you and only you. $40 and I will mail you a Garmin 205. PM me address...

MTBNJ will cover the $40. Send Matty your address and I'll give him the $40. And then it's a non-issue.

I also offered to send you a free wired bike computer.

I am in 100% agreement that everyone needs to be counting the same thing (i.e. moving time only) for a fair competition. However, is it impolite to point out that this legend guy in the pro division has not provided any ride documentation at all so far??

Not impolite at all. But his stuff is here:

I just looked at yesterday, and there are indeed 2 rides.

Jeff - can you post your links from now on?

I see his rides on Strava...I can vouch that he is posting accurate info.

I don't think it's really necessary to clarify the rule at this point. You would have to be just an epic douche to pull what I said above. And if someone cares that much about winning an online contest, then I say congratulations and enjoy that win.

That said, I'm still so totally doing the PEDs ...

Philosophical question:

I jump on a freight train heading for Chicago. I have an empty train car by myself with my Garmin running. The trip takes 15 hours. I take my bike with me and ride in circles in the train car, very slowly.

Do I get 30 points?

If there's a mileage bonus do I get that?

What if it's raining the whole way?

PS On a related note, I'm going to be on vacation the last nine days of this competition. so when I post strava files of 3hr rides averaging 23 mph in the ocean off the east coast, it's just a gps error 😉

exactly, that is why the stickie outie tongu(ie)!
the 2:46 + :46 is worthy of discussion - or at clarification by decree

I'll buy the beer for worrying more about dumb rules.

ya think programming computers causes this? they typically do what one codes, rather than what one wants.
