Smokey & the Bandit Extended Online Race

yeah i was looking at the streak bonus as when you hit that mark, it takes effect (affect?). no declaring needed -i'll keep track. you get the longest you streak for.

for example - jim v broke 4 days according to my handy-dandy spreadsheet (btw - google drive rules). if he makes 7 days in a row, but breaks the streak on day 8, i'll pop in the 7 day streak. if he makes 6 days in a row, and falls short of 7, i'll throw it in then too.

i just thought, this can cause a bonus day issue. if you get awarded streak points on a bonus day, that'll F things up. so no doubling streak points.

mo' rules mo' problems.

pfff...all these "rules"...just enjoy the ride people!!!! 😛

(thanks Dave for dealing with all the headaches/rules)

I was looking to do this and I think it is fair play. There is a strategy to every race. That was my strategy.

So are you saying the max streak points is 31, or 46?

IMO streak bonus is on top of anything else. Or under. Anyway, not included in the double day. Point: if you find yourself trying to milk the system, don't.

I was thinking of doing those today but since my 5' power sucks i was going to do vo2 today. This is going to be my 3rd wk of TOB training plan, and have not been able to do 5x5.
Thoughts?

I'm no coach or expert, I can give you an opinion.

Do VO2 max or other weaknesses on the weekends as part of those 3-5 hour rides. Try to do weekday according to plan. The plan is the plan, man. On the other hand, last year I missed week 6 and 7 because I was doing a roadshow, and it turned out ok in the end.

You're doing the work, and you're ramping up hours and intensity, so that is the core component. Just because something is off around the edges is NBD. It will pay off - just be very precise in the peak. Don't mess around with last 2 weeks at all.

Speaking of which I'm kind of f'd cause we're going on vacation on Week 14... But I don't have any pressure this year cause mid-pack in Cat 3 is the reality no matter what.

Edit, I just realized you said you're in Week 3. My answer kind of assumed you're in Week 11 😀 Sorry. One workout sub'd for another matters even less. Just try to continue ramping up volume and intensity, take rest weeks, and try to approximate that peak.

The consecutive day thing should not be cumulative in terms of gaining points each time you hit a the mark. If you do 31, you get 31. Separate multiple days should be allowed. if doing the the multiple 5 days gets you more points than the 31, then change it. And we thought last years rules were confusing.

Anyways, gotta get out of the basement:

for clarification - 31

that's why i went with the 1 time use only disclaimer. some restrictions may apply. offer valid only at participating dealers in the United States and Puerto Rico.

shouldn't be too confusing - i'll take your longest streak and give you points for it when it happens. if you reach 4 days, i'll wait and see if you hit 7. if you hit 7, voila - you get the bonus. if you don't, you get the bonus for 4. if you've taken a day off, i already know you're no good for the 31.

I had ZERO motivation to ride today, but then suddenly I found myself getting ready to ride the bike to work. Took me exactly 30 minutes which is 10.6mph.

Got home in 20 minutes which is 15.9mph (not bad?) It took me 5 minutes longer on the bike than it does to drive the van! whats up with THAT?

I had to work late today so I didnt get to ride with The Hub  however, sometimes things work out well anyway. Instead I was able to meet Joe and Rick at Allaire for a ride. According to Joe's gps type thingie we did 12.3 miles. We rode for over 2 hours. We did Tiger Woods. In the "better" direction. Funny how a year ago I felt that trail was unrideable, and now I am thinking, "I can do this" I had my heavy bike today so I didnt do all the climbs, but I will. Someday.

I was told I look "younger" How nice is THAT?! 😀

Oh and I think Rick got me falling over on video....

Soooo 3+ hours, 12+miles on dirt, bonus for fallover and younger looking without the use of hair dye, and bonus for painting my nails tonight to match my bike, yes?

1hr 49 min / 25.27 miles
4 points

wash, rinse, repeat.

Thanks. I really wanted to hit my VO2 numbers. Even though I started a 16wk program at wk 8 I have been able to hit the numbers for prescribed training days...except for the 5 minute stuff. I nailed it today; 6x5 😀

4 pts.

took advantage of the nice weather today. Rode the CX bike on the Columbia trail to and fro work (don't call me a commuter though). Love all the trail chotchkeys!

since I didn't use/ride on 3/1 the double day, can I use a floating DD today?

Just shy of 3 hours

This is the loop I do when my son is at taekwondo - his class is 45 minutes, so getting there a bit early, and having at it. helps gauge progress over the year - the time change really helps, as his class is not always at 5:15.

my kid wanted to practice baseball when he got home from school early, rather than go riding!! that is a no lose situation.

Beautiful night for a ride - felt like I could go forever (no wind sure helps). First ride with the Garmin 810, figured I'd compare it to the Forerunner 410 I'd been using head-to-head. As expected, the 410 has been shortchanging me on mileage, especially on twisty trails - at the sourlands it routinely calculates the 5 mile ridge trail as 4.7 miles. On roads I didn't expect any difference and that was the case, but as soon as I started hitting some bike paths and riding serpentine down some cul del sacs, the 410 started to fall behind. Not a huge difference, but expected as the 410 uses "smart" data acquisition but when you look at the raw files, some data points are as much as 8 seconds apart.

410: 25.4 miles, 13.7 mph ave, 23.5 mph max speed
810: 25.6 miles, 13.8 mph ave, 25.3 mph max speed

Elevation change was really different, but I don't think elevation correction is enabled on the 810.
