Singlespeed-a-polooza

Im just looking to best my finish last year, but now that they went an added 8 more miles not sure if that is gonna be possible. Wasn't twenty enough?

Sorry guys - unfortunately I will not be in attendance to back up my run from last year. Doing this race after doing a 100 miler the day before still has the same allure, but the race I'll be doing before the SS race is 13 hours away. Last year it was 8. I will have to recover in the car 🙁

Michaux is only 10 hrs away from Ducktown. That would be tough guy style.

Wow a 28miler for my first SS race! I cant wait. Norm killed it last year, I'm gunnin for sub 2hrs.....1st lap

You know that did cross my mind...but only for a second. That would be HAAAAARD!

That would be my entire season right there. Two races and I'm done...😀

I think I have a solution. We can have a race within the race. All the old fat guys (myself included) will finish our race after one lap! We can have our own awards ceremony and everything! One Fat Lap!

And first dibs at the post-race beer! That's a win-win if I ever heard one. 😀

No matter if you think you are old or fat, if you are a true SS or SS wanabe, you can do 2 laps no problem! SS is about dealing with it.

... and there is no whining in SS.😀

I think you guys just got called out by a (pixy)chick. Granted she can kick all of our asses on a bike, but she still called out the old fat guy contingent.

Yeh, don't listen to ryderx. He must have me confused with mr pixy😉. I meant it as a form of encouragement. Last year the course was quite flat and fast. Nearly all the sport men passed me and I finished in 2:00, so the extra 8 miles may not be as bad as it looks on paper. Plus all the girls have to do it too. Last year there were 20 girls. Plus the beer taste better after 3 hours of riding.

:cry:I'll try my hardest to do two laps, but I'll be whining the whole way. (hopefully to myself)

This reminds me of something I've been thinking about. There are no age classes for the unopalooza but I'd like to see how I compare to the rest of my age group. I'm a masters rider, in fact I'll turn 56 on April 25th, the day of the race. Is there any way officially or not we could do a masters catagory? Maybe we could all get together just before and after the race, put a red mark on our number plate or something. Anyone interested in this?

I'd also like to get up there and preride the course over the next couple of months. I prerode the course last year (but didn't race) and it was great fun.

You can whine to me Patty....cause I'll be cursing under my breath come mile 20.

I too want to pre-ride the course/track to get a better understanding of what I'm up against.
