seans training blog:

have i died?? fecking sun. got as low as 80 on my 1 hr ride from parent's house to here on the half-gorilla(orangutan from now on). and of course, in the half hour since, it's dropped to 71. 😎

i got boned by the sun today too, i popped a tire and was unable to patch it up 7 miles from home. i ended up pushing the thing back, and now i'm sunburned.

I love my winter shoes, you have the Lakes, correct?

There is never any talk about winter shoes around this place, wtf?

my only quam with the lakes is that the waterproofness of the material is really worthless unless you seal the bottom and wear rain pants. otherwise the water runs down your leg and ends up in the shoe...

back of my knee is a little sore, so my sister drove me home from my parents' house, which is right by the drops. still got in about 20, between the ride to the start point, the ride to the drops, and dickin around a little while there. we went out to lunch at el coyote, which was good, but dead. also stopped at the A-mazing P-aradise beer store and picked up a 4-pack of arcadia's imperial stout, and a big 34 oz can of the danish FAXE amber beer, which i'm drinking right now, which is VERY good. smooth and easy to drink. 5% fantastic.

when i got here, i decided, just for the hell of it, to see if those big 26x3" wheels/tires would fit in the rig. surprise surprise, they fit with almost as much clearance as on the karate monkey. now what the hell do i do... the rig is aluminum, so it'll eventually break, the km is steel, so it's more durable, the rig has verti drops so wheel changes are easier, a higher bb, and a lifetime warranty, the km has more 29er tire clearance.... i'm so confused... i'm only taking one to alaska with me, which will it be???

rode to brunch this morning. having left my riding shoes at my parents house yasterday, i arranged for my mother to bring them, which she didn't, so i then had to hitch a ride with one of them to the house to get my shoes, and ride home. total of about 35ish. easy pace. little bit of trail. all on the rigorilla. oh, and one more thing:

click me. 😀

take the rig and give me the karate monkey

40 today, piece of cake on the ss cx type bike. such a world of difference from 26x3" tires and 27" wide riser bars to 32mm tires and 44(i think)mm wide bars...

work work work. my upper body is sore as all hell right now. been getting in ten a day, sleeping at the parents' house. working my ass off all day, and today will be no different.

dead tired. 15 more hrs of work today. probably about 10 hrs of actual labor. rode in, got a lift back to my parents. riding in tomorrow for 32 hrs of work.. fun fun, but the ot check will be well worth it. :getsome:

i'll finally be going home to my house today. haven't been there much the past two weeks. loads of strenuous work. enough to make me sore, which riding doesn't often do to me. it'll be nice to sleep in my bed as opposed to a couch or the cab of a dump truck for once.

been doing my full commute all week. standard ss cx stuff. except this morning. i was slacking/procrastinating and didn't get out the door till almost six. i fully expected to be late. i still charged nonetheless though, and managed to make it there in 51 minutes, arriving at my normal time. it's not absurdly quick by roadie standards, but it's my quickest commute yet. 19+ mph. took it really easy on the way home, got a flat from a metal shard halfway. felt fine though. might take the rigorilla in tomorrow if i feel like leaving early enough.

easy in, easy out today.

motorists have become much more vocal of late. wether it be the kids yelling something at you once they get right up next to you, the fat guys in the big red pickup yealling "nice calves!" at me, then pulling into a deli, then yelling it again when they repassed me, or the guy today who yelled "GO! GO! GO!" as he passed. there have been others too. it's kinda nice. the road is becomming a community again after the shut-in, shut-up, hurry-up winter weather. the windows are open.
