Wow! I was on 514(amwell road) from hillsborough to flemington. I saw a group of cyclists spread out over about 5 miles. Must have been 75-100 riders. On a very busy part of the road they were on a steep 1/4 mile or so incline 5-6 wide with atleaat 15 cara waiting behind them. Who the hell does this? This is why they have a bad rep. Single file is gow it should be. All these guys are scumbags in my eyes. There were NFG.

Hmmm, I recall MTBNJ chatter last year to the same effect ( and perhaps same location ) about the Major Taylor Newark-NewHope ride. Which I believe was today. My understanding is they were to have traffic control. Perhaps it did not work out.

Sounds like a route improvement is in order.

Another reason to ride off road. I hear it alot.. "oh you ride a bike?" You must be one of those who thinks they own the road and blah blah.

Me "nope just a trail rider" They still don't get it. "but you ride a bike?" Yeah in the woods far away from people like you.

Some of them pricks could be good people caught up in the shared experienced. So not all are pricks. Can we find a common ground?

I was riding in the truck from Flemington to 6-Mile with my newly minted permit daughter driving 😱, and while we saw many riders, none were more than single file (~1pm). I still had a few times where I had to give instructions to about how to properly navigate bikes to a new driver, but no one I saw was out of line in the least.

I have to say with all of the great roads in this area, I don't understand why they would route on 514 there, but no issues going this way at least.

I never see pricks in the woods. All mountain bikers are angels.
Except those who remove rocks, cut turns, go around puddles, cut trees, build up logs, and most importantly build rouge trails. Other then that yeah they are angles.

I ride on the road too but choose to stay near the edge as much as possible unless it's an area where i need to protect myself. These guys weren't affecting me as they were going the opposite direction. They were blatantly taking up an entire lane of a county road though.
