Post your BooBoo's

I am surprised after a week I only have a minor B&B and not a massive raspberry.

After a week of triple ointment and these bandaids the arm is healing fast the Tegaderm was fine for the first 24-48 hours but it kept leaking on the sides.

Shoulder is slightly sore but for the most part I don’t think about it so it’s not interfering with anything I am doing and I don’t think I have any real damage luckily. Could have been worse like broken collarbone.

Highly recommend these bandages assuming the damage fits underneath.

Years ago and completely non bike related but I still enjoy seeing this every year. Fractured occipital from catching a roundhouse kick to the face in a Norma Jean pit. In the top three for worst concussion I ever had…I brought a girl to this show and didn’t remember who she was.

Maybe it was the girl who did the roundhouse kick on you?

Been a long day and I’m wiped out and pissed off.

Clipped a garbage can handle during our WFH group ride today and it nailed me right in the ring finger of my right hand. Somehow I didn’t go down and the guy in front of me tried to call it out but it was too late. Cars were passing us and the pail was just sticking out enough. I knew it felt bad but of course I kept riding until I realized I was having trouble putting pressure on the brakes.

Got back and iced it but it was swelling up badly. But ironically I had a doc appointment this afternoon to check on my right shoulder from my crash back in Nov 4th. She checked the shoulder and did X-rays. Lucky it’s just inflammation of biceps tendon and everything else looks great no other damage from the crash. I would have been celebrating in a comment here but now it’s about 4;30 and my right hand is killing me. She can’t do any exam because insurance wouldn’t cover it during same visit.

Head to 1st urgent care at 530 who told me they do X-rays. Turns out they do X-rays but not at that location. Called a few other places no X-rays so fuck it gonna drive to Hacketstown hospital. On the way I pull over and check urgent cares near hospital and find one that takes my insurance and only an hour wait.

I was in and out in 1.5 hours. I was pretty sure my hand was broken along with my ring finger.

Diagnosis is hairline fracture of lower ring finger. Doc buddy taped it and told me take OTC meds for pain and ice it the next few days. She taped it to my pinky but it was pulling at an awkward angle. I taped it to my middle finger when I got home and now hurts much less.

Lucky it’s not anything major but pretty bummed the next few weeks probably much less outdoor riding for the rest of the year and nothing on the rower. This will put a dent in my fitness level heading into Xmas holidays but at least nothing that needs surgery which was a big fear.

See you on zwift.

I read garbage can and thought "metal can"... was expecting to see stitches. With wide bars i now snack my right pinky at least once every ride. Developing one of those nice cut on top of cut scabs.

It was one of those bigger plastic deals with the flip open lid that the truck lifts up with the automated arm thing. I learned now thats just the same height as my handlebars 🤦🏻‍♂️

Guess now I will have Garbagecanaphobia whenever I ride the road bike.

Moral of the story… stick to mountain biking. It’s safer. 😀

Ironically I did 5 hours and 24 miles of MTB rides last weekend and only had some shinburger despite the numerous opportunities to eat shit on the 4 different parks we did.

You might have a theory going. It’s just been bad Luck the last month. 2 incidents in less then 30 days.

Friday was a week it’s feeling much better now that the hand swelling is way down. I tried one day having the finger wrapped by itself and of course I caught it on something and that hurt like a MF so I put it back to having two fingers taped together.

Doc never really said how long to keep
It like this but I guess I will keep
It this way until the finger itself hurts less. Dr google helped me find this which seems reasonable but of course I want to ride sooner than this timeframe. Sticking to indoors for now tho can’t change a flat tire if I ride solo.

I was wondering about some kind of PT so now that I found this I probably also saved myself another copayment for the orthopedic visit on this.
