Love Drunk
Jerk Squad
Not even sure how I did this. Monday afternoon 6 hours into my workday sitting at my desk, my foot felt funny. Had a swollen spot with light bruising that itched and hurt together. Could feel a lump in my foot walking. Iced it and kept working, the next day lunp was gone and it was bruised. Bruise grew through yesterday and now seems to have peaked and maybe getting better.

I stayed off the bike M-W. Rode Nassau last night in thick soles fiveten impacts and felt ok. I rode alot over the weekend, some of which involved jumping on a DJ with 50+ psi in the tires so maybe that played a part, but so strange that I dont really know what did it.

Seems like nothing compared to the massive puncture wounds on display here lately 😬

Since you people are so into injury porn, here's my leg 3.5 days from incident. Open wounds are the best.

I dont need them medically but i picked up a pair of crutches yesterday. Moving around outside is a lot less painful.

I havent been in this thread in a while, but I mean could I pass this one up? I think not

Good one last night....I jumped up and rode that last rock spine near the end of the oreland downhill....have done it countless times, just lost my front wheel and rolled....Really, totally nothing fall, but as I rolled I felt something stab me in the back. I thought I just got a stinger from something in my swat bib pocket...my multi tool or sunglasses....Pressed on after a few minutes of writhing.....started to notice I was bleeding like alot....

Turns out something punctured my back...not really sure what...I rode away thinking I just landed on a rock or something in my pocket, didnt think i was bleeding so I didnt look around at the crime scene.

Anyway, went to the clinic near me...they said they were closing in 20min, so go away....other clinic was already closed so I just went to my wifes ER in morristown...She wasnt there, but her friends took care of me. Doctor took one look and was like, that is so deep, it might have reached thru to your organs....so they had to xray and cat scan me...all good, close, but didnt quite make it. Anyway...many hours later...2am, they finally let me eat something and eventually go home.

Me: doc so when can I ride um exercise again?
Doc: oh, like a week or so
Me: really? am I going to damage something if I do some activity? like the wound open up or something?
Doc: oh no...it just might hurt
Me: ahh ok (thinking...ill be back on my bike in a day, thanks doc)

not sure what stabbed me, but the only mark I found on my gear was these two tiny holes

Jesus man! Why wasn’t that stitched up like on day 1??? 😵
You just can't. It's too swollen. There's an option to get an integra skin graft but our completely dysfunctional medical industry makes it a gigantic pain. The hospital won't let the doctor have a section to do the procedure in his office (which he certainly could) but requires an admittance to the hospital and all the insane fees and waste of time that entails.

I learned that the doctor performed a "fasciotomy". He cut open the fascia that surrounds the muscle to allow it to swell and prevent the possibility of compartment syndrome which decreases blood flow to the muscle. That would be bad.

It's gradually getting better. I put a flat pedal on my trainer and have been on Zwift wearing a flip-flop the past 3 mornings. I need to pull out my old road shoes (my current ones are tight AF) and see if I can get my foot in them.

Doesn't look like much but slamming your kneecap onto concrete hard dirt hurt so bad the first 60 seconds I started considering that my knee was trashed and wondered how I'd drag me and my bike out of the bush

Scene of the fall - conditions are so dry here sand in the turns is like sugar and combined with a really worn rear tire, I was asking for trouble. Reminded me of a winter black ice fall - no warning and you're going down hard. Still sore but not blowing up

Well, I never participated in amateur hour, so this is what I got. Fractured my left fibula on March 12th, had enhancement on St. Paddy's Day ( got 17 staples too) and after 2-months steady improvement, on May 20th I got the OK to start building up activity. Woo-hoo - I miss those pedals!

Surfing wipeout Sunday. I got caught inside on a bigger set. I’m on a longboard and tried to make it over the top even tho I knew it was futile. I have a habit of putting my arms up besides my head so I don’t get speared and I think a fin got me. Never had anything swell that fast in my life, and it was the back of my bicep that hit. Colors are blooming nicely!

Yesterday we had a few people over for a BBQ. My neighbor brought his dog. Her and Sadie (my dog) have walked together before but something happened and the other dog snapped. She attacked Sadie on our deck and I was bit in the hand trying to get them apart. We're all okay but my hand is out of commission for a a few weeks. Sadie had to get a bunch of stitches. They don’t want to stitch me up because of the risk of infection. Was not a good day. ☹️

First, hope you both heal up soon.

Second, I know I’m going to hell for this.... but my warped mind was hoping for a follow-up picture in which you were wearing a matching “cone of shame”. 🤪. I fully expect the universe to reward me with a case of hemorrhoids or something for my evil musings.😳

Well that really sucks for everyone and every dog involved sorry to hear that. ☹️

Let me recommend one of these depending how long she needs to wear it it’s much more convenient for her and you and then she can lay down pretty comfortably on it too.

Had one of these for Shelby when she was a pup and for fixed she even learned a command to put it on and off that I still
Use when I put her leash and collar on for going for a walk.

Hope you all heal up fast and the dogs can still be friends somehow (and the neighbors too)

i second the inflatable collar, we used one with both our dogs and they end up using them like mobile pillows, MUCH better than the satellite dish sized plastic cone they came home with

Friends, yes - but the dog has to go. She’s a rescue my neighbors picked up a month ago. She’s some kind of pitbull, boxer mix. Being that my wife was attacked by a dog when she was in her 20s, the whole experience was extra traumatic, especially for the dozen kids at my house. The dog clamped around my labs neck and 4 grown men could not pull her off. She only let go after one of the moms dumped a pail of ice water on her face. We would never feel comfortable going to our neighbor’s house again with that dog there. The consensus among the four families who witnessed this was that the dog should not be around small children, which my neighbor has two. We haven’t brought it up but I’m pretty sure they are pondering that right now. It’s sad and f’ed up.
