That’s it, I’m getting a Peloton so I can go from 189 to 188. So I bought my wife a flat handlebar road bike (OK it’s a hybrid) and she doesn’t ride it. Luckily she does other types of exercises such as yoga along with good genetics so is in shape and could kick my ass anyway(not saying much). Now the kids use it as a trainer. It’s a size large so I guess I can add it to my list of bikes that I can ride(wrong thread).

I'm not a peloton fan... I think there are definitely better ways that someone could spend their money if they wanted to cycle and get fit, but I have some friends that have picked one up over the last few years and they all enjoy it. One of them is a cyclist and rides his road bike, but hates going out in the winter. He tried his bike on the trainer last winter, but didn't enjoy it... not nearly as much as he enjoyed the Peloton. He spent nearly everyday on it last winter and he was a better/stronger cyclist come spring.

As someone that lost a lot of weight, and changed his life around because of cycling, people often ask me what is the secret... I'm not sure what they expect me to tell them. There really is no secret, but the only thing i can really share with them is that they have to find something they enjoy doing. The hardest part about making a lifestyle change to lose weight or get more fit is sticking with it... no matter what you do, it will be hard work. In the beginning, it will be hard to see the gains or any improvement. You'll feel like you're doing work, and not getting anything in return. I think the first 30 days of a new change is the hardest. If people enjoy Peloton and it gets them motivated and moving, that's awesome. I think the commercial accurately portrays how hard it can be to try something new and stick with it.

starting from the couch: 6 weeks and the difference will be obvious. Tough 6 weeks tho.

It's not sexist, it's just stupid. But Peleton knows it's market, that's for sure. I sell spin shoes to this woman all day long in Summit. Copy/paste, everyday. The only difference between them is which Tesla Model they hop out of.

I'm still a cavewoman who stares at the walls while listening to podcasts and playlists, but indoor training has come such a long way it's practically its own sport! Used properly, it can also be transformative....

She even promotes Fat Biking and Gravel Races. Almost like she'll say anything to get people active in Cycling.
She basically is woman’s gravel on the east coast. The year she rode from philly to HOH, I pulled her from Aunt Molly to the start. Felt important for 4 miles ?
she was at the PA NICA finals, what a scenester.

She probably doesn't ride it because of that seat position 😱

I showed my wife the ad, she asked what people thought was sexist?
rtalk. I really don't think there is anything sexist about it. The only part that was weird was when she was scared for her first ride on a stationary bike where only her kids or husband could possibly see her? Well, unless there is a POV camera on you that other people can see? That wouldn't surprise me.

Anyways, the whole commercial is ridiculous to actual cyclists, BUT, there is a huge market for people just like this. For better or worse, there are wives out there that would thank their husbands for changing their lives by giving them a stationary bike (I myself do not have one of them).

At the end of the day, Peloton got a huge amount of press during what I assume is their biggest sales season.

is that a setback post..... set un-back?
Setback turned around.😛

Well said....Stern is all over Peleton now as he usually discusses it in each show. My old office had two in our gym. It’s a great Segway for non-cyclists, or so it seems. I still have yet to ride one, but feel like it would be more exciting than a regular trainer

If zwift or strava ever made a commercial for TV I would expect it to be pretty similar with the main focus on the social media community, etc. The self absorbption is whats off putting. But if we want to be real is it any different than us posting race results, picures, etc. on here or IG?
