Not so fast sport. All 2.5” that I know of are so call ‘wide trail’ and designed for 30mm internal width or more, a thinner rim would make them perform worse and thus waste the extra $$$ gone into them. Why do you think those wheels are on sale? That said I think that a good 2.3” regular tire would be plenty, just pointing out a few info taken straight from the manufacturer sites.

I was using this chart, do you have another?

Many Maxxis 2.5 are WT but other brands make a 2.5 and even at 29 internal width they are totally fine, I know because I ran them and the profile was too curved. Every tire and rim combo has some variation depending on manufacturers variation in construction but you are usually OK with 2.3-2.5 range on a 27 mm internal.

@serviceguy didnt you say you can’t order DT from Europe? @Fire Marshal Max are you sure you can get them from crc

How do you read that on my phone? I posted a link in my post and I’m looking for another. You need to read about wide trail tires if you want 2.5” wide. The new set that I’m building ( I thought I was finished, then while taping a wheel found a spike that was way too long and had to redo it all over again) uses 30mm internal width an 2.6” WT tires, a little borderline but I really wanted to build a 29” fully DtSwiss wheel for the 54t ratchet. The literature ( misinformation) out there is massive.

I was just suggesting to make sure the tire he picks is appropriate for the rim.

I tried 2 separate German websites, didn’t think of CRC, but they’re not as cheap for rim only, and what is heavily discounted is usually out of stock. I’ll check other British websites, maybe because brexit...who knows!

I think this Saturday/Sunday I'll stick to local fire roads and trails for a change, maybe trying to get to Sterling from Ryerson. If there's any interest I may create a ride on Strava.

I did the ryerson to end of the new trail near the light last night. Almost 11 miles round trip. About an hour forty with minimal stops.
