OOS MOGA

The OOS Admin idea was a brain fart type of thing after reading @KenS post. We had a great time and it was very rewarding for me personally and thought that OOS should get more involved. Then started to think about how to get this info out to rest of the crew effectively because there are a few of us who doesn't have the time to deal and sift thru with all the crap that goes on on this thread. Like @kbajaj @huffster @GreenMachine and others who are only able to check in maybe once or twice a week and they miss out on the opportunity. I mean come on... the thread is awesome and entertaining and all and... I digress. Anyways, then I thought what if they get an alert just by subscribing to "something" and I just started asking questions to @Patrick regarding the "follow" function thingamajig. Sure, you can tag them but then... ah fuck it.... I am just lazy. Again... just random shit that farted out of my ears.
I just don't get why we can't have a thread for rides only. I'll help enforce the no shitting policy. I love fucking around and the nonsense of this thread, but I dont go messing up the serious threads and I doubt others would either as long as we can self censor it.

What loop
Batcave climb to white back to orange over to Oreland then back down orange to the batcave and lot. Before vacation I have been doing that loop in about 1:20 its fun only slightly challenging. The longer loop would include the red downhill and some of the other stuff depending on how long.

Man I am really starting to like riding Wildcat, I missed it while on vacation. Pissed I couldn't go this weekend because I was too sick.

Wh
Was this going to be a Saturday or Sunday ride? Saturday I can probably join, Sunday I have much greater time constraints so may not join or only half the ride. This doesn't matter but don't want to push a ride that I wouldn't be on.

Also if I don't join, I will prob do an 8am loop at Wildcat, figure 8 mile 1:20-1:40
I've got Sunday locked in. What park is local to you that would make it easy. I'm game for 8 or 9 am wheels down

Any chance you'd start earlier? I want to link up again it's been to long.

All the good parks up north are within 25 min, I am very lucky, but I can only ride for about 1.5 hours max starting at 8 am and trust me you will need more time any place you go to enjoy the experience and I don't want to cut into that time. I may come and just leave halfway through which will work for some of the parks.

Really wish we could take you to Stephens I think that is a pretty fun and good intro to NNJ without too much tech and punishment, but they have an event this weekend.

Strava is a good tool for all types of announcements not just rides. And we’ve already used it in other capacities.
Strava... mind you... was the result of a similar type of brain fart.
But have you not noticed there are no discussions going on strava? My guess is because most use it as a phone app. I, for one, would rather be on a computer for such.

I see it as an announcement on Strava but did not get an alert. Not sure if alerts are for rides only or if there is simply a time delay. When I post a ride, the alert is delayed. Guess we’ll find soon enough.

I think it's rides only

@Paul H who why should we be trying to manage TM they're already being posted if someone wants to go they can go and if anyone wants to join they'll let it be known.

I'm trying to do WC or Stephens TM this month

6MR NICA was fun because we went as a group.
Just like solo rides vs group rides... a group outing with friends is always more fun.

Just my opinion, but you may want to set a sort of schedule for this sort of thing and make it very, very light. I would say something like "hey let's do an OSS TM every 4 months" kind of thing.

Give plenty of warning. I mean, what you really need is a high level calendar for this stuff. But very loose, sort of like trying to get together as a big group every month or so. So you may have stuff like:

* MTBNJ group rides
* pick a TM or 2 to go to
* Maybe 1 NICA volunteer effort
* Cranks weekend
* JORBA festival

And go from there. What I tend to see with too much volunteering is that it erodes really fast. Then you're standing in a field with Frank, who is always out there ready to help. Then you have to explain to him that no, the trees are not plaid. And so on.

Maybe someone can ask the JORBA folks on here which sessions/parks could benefit most from a good OOZING. I'd be down to make my monthly adventure a TM/ride hybrid.

HA! I was actually goofing on this... since CR or Sourlands is not really NNJ... altho they are not bad options.

I think @JerseyPete offered a tour of Ramapo
@Mtbdog also threw out HM
Either way, I am sure a ride will manifest itself soon or later.
I will be at the top of skyline this afternoon at 5 to do a partial loop and get a feel on length of time to include my walking and catching my breath. It will include boring fire road climb to the ruins.
Feel free to join me. I'm not sure what is going on this weekend. What are the time constraints for duration and start?

Round valley. But it doesn't make a ton of sense to work on a park that you hit once a year
