OOS MOGA

Her cousin.... my brother's daughter is the same age. When it comes to play, no holds bar.
Since the wife will be going to church... its up to good old dad to chauffer the princess.

I always find it interesting when one member of a couple goes to church and the other doesn't. Are you not religious? Feel free to draw a line and tell me I crossed it. I was raised catholic and I am against raising my son in the church, if he goes to me when he is 9 and wants to go, I'll take him but there are to many things I disagree with to make my self the sole church goer.

MrsQ and I were just speaking about this. Many of my friends went back to church/temple after they had kids. I guess they wanted the church to teach values and such which they didn't feel they were able to instill. Now that their kids are older, no one goes to church again. I'm personally not religious, but I've read a lot about all religions from a historical perspective just to be better informed with current events. Having faith, and it doesn't need to be religious, is very powerful. The churches kind of perfected it so it's easier to follow and adopt. I won't go into merits of religion here, cause it will lead to no where good, but the Catholic churches and other religious institions are not going to solve their current issues easily without massive changes.

What line have you not crossed? lol
Nah man... its cool. I was raised Catholic as well but they go to a Presbyterian church. My daughter only goes there to play with her friends. I guess at some point, she will have to make a decision whether or not she wants to continue. As long you don't take everything too literal, I think there are benefits but as far as my kid is concerned, I will let her make her own decision when the time comes.

My worry was the wrong values being instilled, being anti gay just doesn't line up well with the message of good. I don't like the idea of putting faith in other peoples hands to put the values you want in your child, thats just me. I think my son will learn to be a good person from my wife and I, always offer a hand if you have one to give and leave things better than when you got there.

they don't really talk about that level of good or bad to a kid. They teach tolerance, and introspection (another word for prayer or meditation)
I stopped going after high school (cause it was catholic hs) - there was a scandal, not of the sex kind, then all the stuff. But i do think it helps
parents have another voice. And i felt like a hypocrite, because of teachings you referenced.

church is also a community - someone from church would have your back, and coordinate if some assistance was needed. Before being able to call a family
member that lives half way across the country, you depended on your neighbor - which was probably your family member.

It can actually be argued that we have a genetic propensity to create these groups of people. Cause the loners don't survive well.
(read some E. O. Wilson on this stuff - very interesting. why the snake is generally feared, why we are afraid of the dark, esp as a child)

If you see me at 8 you've been eatin' some of @soundz's mushrooms! Not an early bird at all. I was hungry last week and couldn't deal, so I'm eatin' up this time and 9 is fine by me. Looking at a 1 hour drive also, so 9 it is.

But you're up by 6 am based on your posts. I thought I was slow, but can usually get out in 45mins with a decent meal and trip to the john

Do you guys eat before a ride?
I try not to... unless I am really hungry. Don't want to get the runs during the ride... altho I carry tissues with me at all time.

Is Black Run Preserve near where you live?
Yea, it's pretty close. I've only been there once and rode the REI trails. I thought it would be a better place for the winter. I go to Camden county college the most because it's on my way home from work and is only a few miles from me.
