OOS MOGA

they own a mini excavator already...
i'm not sure they own a trailer to tow it tho....

problem is getting permission to use it. welcome to nj.

certain promises, which probably turned into assumptions were made.
which really sucks, and sidelined a ton of investment.
i don't attend the meetings, so i'm not going into it - they are doing the best they can
with the resources and information they have.

as Norm mentioned, it is number of members that give voice, not
just $$. cause when you talk to an elected official, they want to know
how many people you are reporting back to.....
(see watchung reservation)
Do they have to charge for membership to tally those numbers? Maybe if they had a non contributing member field they'd boost their numbers. Seems like you're all saying their member count is an important factor for grants and access. Might hit cashflow from a membership standpoint, but could increase grants and awareness could also boost event attendance.

Excellent question - and i've asked this. The Trail Council has a non-paying supporters class, so they boast larger numbers.
In the case of JORBA there are direct costs per member related to insurance.

i have a friend that worked in us distribution and is a local expert in italian wines (he has a couple unpronounced consonants in his name)
he comes up with great wine in the under $20 range, and sometimes less, because it is an obscure grape or non-popular region.
unfortunately, these things don't stick with me, so i couldn't tell ya which. but i find it very interesting, because he always has a popular (expensive)
wine he wants me to compare it with.
With limited knowledge, I read a good atlrticle once that said wines from Chile, Argentina and Spain are often best bang for your buck, giving you old vine wines without the markup from CA, france and Italy. If you like bold wines, Chilean cabs are often robust and complex in flavor. Whereas a Malbec, often from argentina is a bit more smooth and relaxed. Annnnnnnnnnnnd that's pretty much my maxxed out knowledge. I mainly look at those point tags and find whatever $10 bottle has the best description or point rating.

My SIL is in Argentina and my wife went to visit her last year. I told her to bring me back some wine but I got jack!

ok @Norm and @rick81721 - you may have seen this, where there is an event going on, and some
items are raffled by putting tickets in for a random drawing - more tix from you in for the item, better chance.
although popular items draw more tix from everyone, so ya need a plan (?)

at the tricky tray, the raffles are the event - and maybe some food, and a little lubricating liquid
to loosen up the wallet.

here is the last somerville music one - i believe they had 375 different "baskets"
in 3 classes of prizes - the tickets cost a different amount at the different levels - table clothes indicate required
ticket color. put in the wrong color, lose your ticket!

There is also a 50/50 going on, and a couple roaming raffles ($500 in gift cards in each) - they go table-to-table.

Serious event. As Rob mentioned, the gain is in the 5 figures, and almost everything is donated.

people really get into it when they start pulling numbers - some winners are prepared with bubble machines, and those
optical fiber spinning things to celebrate.

PS - food and drink in Cafe, everyone knows there is no food allowed in the gym.....

you can only bring 2 bottles now and not allowed for some as carry on
Can't buy duty free from China to US but okay the other way around. We usually get a bottle of Single Malt and Grey Goose for the 3 weeks we're there in the summers

yeah, like the UPS guy didn't wear a path to your house during that stint 😀
Speaking of UPS.... USPS is doing some shady shit.
On some of my amazon deliveries, they marked them down as "delivered" on their website and amazon but doesn't get actually delivered until the following day

yup - this is so they make their service commitment to amazon. kindof annoying....
of course i tip the UPS driver at christmas, along with our mailperson, so it doesn't happen often. 😉

Raw, naked, sexy has her new gears and will live as 27.5+ for a few months. Needs a bath and surprised it's still 2 ounces over 30 pounds with carbon wheels. Some Hope matchy and CK love. But haven't setup the 46T cassette as the wheels are XD though put on the 30T oval chainring so have a lower range than before. Will try to get to RV on Sunday morning to attempt Puke Hill again!

What time were you thinking for RV on Sunday?

I've seen silent auctions and gift basket raffles (I guess that is a tricky tray, never heard it described as such) at fundraisers, car shows, etc.

I seem to have a different mail person all the time, how do you tip your mailperson and not some random or you don't know which gets it

I just ordered up the 32T Absolute black oval, which one did you get? Really interested to see how it works out, also hoping it fits my chainstays

our usual person is mon->saturday consistently, so we know her now.
different person doing the amazon sunday thing.

All the time I see different people, the first year was consistent, but after that it seemed to always change so we only tipped the first year. Garbage, men F them they are awful, they leave the cans all over the place throw and break them and constantly miss our street, no way I am tipping those morons. I understand that hey maybe tip them and they will do a better job, but in my book you need to earn it before it is giving.
