Hmm, they were last year..
We've graduated to a $5 french at TJs. For $3 Shaw was a good deal but once you jump to 5 the quality is significantly better. Most $15 or less wines are mediocre which is why we buy the $5 as a house wine. You really need to spend more than $30 for a wine you expect to improve with age. We should do wine and cheese after a ride one day...

I know nothing about wines.... I just know that Robert Mondavi and Kendall Jackson are not offensive

@Norm not on the race subject but now that you’re noting things...can you try to get a JORBA to do a tricky tray to raise money for trails? Would be a great time to gather our community and raise money instead of relying on memberships...Just a thought

@RobW - Jorba's Tricky Tray Chairperson is looking for volunteers and donations for the first annual TT Ride and Party......

This should be a thing at jorba-fest. ya get 1 ticket with entry, and buy more to up the chances.....
I'll be the lead idea guy -

Excellent! Sponsors of the team would show support I’m sure, also pre paying for tickets should be allowed so there can be some funds towards gift cards to OH and magnify! I I follow CORA on IG and they just raised 30k in one night through a fundraiser that would connect northern Kentucky trails to Cincinnati trails. NJ can do this too, maybe I’m shooting darts at no target but glad to see this coming up. Also, if I can help in anyway, let me know

Seriously, IDK what a Tricky Tray is.

Membership is super important for grant money. You know what the state thinks when JORBA applies for a grant and they don't even have 500 members? It looks pathetic. I am going to guess that the Whale Fart Sniffer Society of NJ has the same number of members.

@RobW - in general, there is a reluctance to hand JORBA money unless it is going to a specific project,
which is a problem, see below.

That is also why there are people that won't join.
i'm sure they can account for every dime that comes in and out (cause @clarkenstein),
but people want to know the direct benefit.

like the signs at 6MR, i'm sure with a little thought it could have been a 501(c)3 deduction, but
you aren't allowed to direct-fund a single project through a non-profit (think about it, it makes sense)
With some wording, it could have gone to the 6MR chapter, cause you are allowed to fund that way)

if there is a public benefit project, there is probably a way to get it done -

--

in general, every shop, team, and mtb supplier benefits, so we want them all competing
for the best donation (in a value range of course) - so the donations are tax deductible to
the entity that provides them.

virtual tricky-tray too - i'm sure there is an app. for people that can't make it.

it kicks in more in HS - with 3, you will be a TT ninja.

@Norm silent auction I’m sure you have heard of those. And you may be the only member for whale fart sniffers. Lol

@Patrick the app would be great idea or even a Facebook live for that matter. If this is done at the mountain bike festival, you will get the non jorba members as well as NiCA parents looking to win some swag or something new for their child. I really think jorba could win big... JORBA could own mini excavator like is being used at six mile... That would be huge..

they own a mini excavator already...
i'm not sure they own a trailer to tow it tho....

problem is getting permission to use it. welcome to nj.

certain promises, which probably turned into assumptions were made.
which really sucks, and sidelined a ton of investment.
i don't attend the meetings, so i'm not going into it - they are doing the best they can
with the resources and information they have.

as Norm mentioned, it is number of members that give voice, not
just $$. cause when you talk to an elected official, they want to know
how many people you are reporting back to.....
(see watchung reservation)
