OOS MOGA

I tend to agree if you are up here maybe a double mooch or RW ride is called for. That gives some rock some flow and lots of downhill and a lot of work to earn it
I'm all in for whatever. Not really interested in paying to ride, which is a main reason I'm against Mt Creek. I'll do that when I get a good season under my belt and have earned the skills to enjoy it more. I've talked to my wife and she's fully supportive of 1 ride trip per month, so I fully intend to get to all the trails over the remainder of the year and beyond.

lol. I'm not doing Creek because A. Money and 2. Skillz (lack thereof). Mt. Creek will be a year 2 ride for me, I think. And a weekday trip at that.

Is this date on your ride list? If so, where do you have currently scheduled? How would you compare Harts/Huber to typical northern trails? Maybe using a +/- 5 scale? I'm assuming it will be on the - side of difficulty.
First time at Hartshorne and I'd put it up there with Nassau and Lewis Morris, which gets a 2? If chimney Rock and high Mt are 3s then maybe 4s for Ringwood, waway and JH. Just a rough over simplification

Oh no dont worry it wont cost cash just a lil bit of your soul...JK just some climbing both places are a good haul up but well worth it

Gotta go up to go down. I'll just need breaks to catch my breath and curse the lifetime of neglected personal fitness. lol.

Don’t worry we will be there to suck wind with you. Both places have climbs that are well worth it and in my opinion are both the top 5 places you can ride in NJ although I am def north and tech biased. I enjoy Allaire and other places but love the punishment of tech and I am not even a good rider lol

Am I the only guy here who thinks high mountain is harder than ringwood or mooch? If I had to rate the northern trails I ride in technical difficulty, it would be
1-wildcat- so fun, but so hard. I have to walk the downhills on several sections
2-high mountain- just one rock after another. Big hills. Lots of tech.
3-mooch north/ wayway/ringwood/JH they can all be relentless, but if you’re feeling good, you can ride everything.
7-Mahlon-lots of great tech, with tons of fun downhills.
8-Stephens-just awesome, especially when paired with mooch.

No high mountain is challenging I just think mooch and RW have great downhill fun factors after all the work and HM doesn’t great ride just not as fun. I actually also think WC is up there as the best but not sure many agree but the climbs suck and downhill is amazing

Just locked it down with the wife and I'm pleased to announce that 2018's new member of the year (Norm's words, not mine), yours truly, will be riding NNJ trails on Sunday, June 9th. I hope to meet some of you out there! I'll bug you all with working out deets when it gets closer. Rock on! (Get it...cuz there's rocks up there?)
Like @JimN mentioned, blue mountain fat tire festival. Peekskill NY across the Hudson from Bear Mountain. Just putting it out there as a great day to ride demos.

Steward Poison Ivy Mousetrap race this Saturday.

@Mtbdog and I are going. Any other OOS crew in? Trails are flowy. One can really stretch their legs. A change from our typical NJ rock gardens.
Unfortunately I have an early dinner with my grandma for mother's day in Brooklyn and won't be able to fit in the race, have fun and represent!

My 2 cents. Fat tire fest rocks. Agree with Roc about HM. Yeah...you have to pay, but the greens & blues at Creek are easier than some of the other mentioned places, you'er just moving a faster. I hear you about paying to ride, but you have to experience it to understand. And honestly, after Memorial day you have to pay at many state parks if you use the main enterence. Yeah...there are rocks up here..alot...but you are generally moving slower, so crashes are easy tip overs or slow OTBs you can almost walk out of as they'er happening.

MCBP blue and green trails are intimidating because of some of the steepness. I remember my first time there looking down from the lift, I was thinking WTF did I get myself into. But once you get over the fear... it aint bad. Now if you follow @oobaa47 to the black and etc.... you will die. lol

Who did you ride with? I always thought the tech was avg but rocks everywhere and flow not as good as the nnj parks. But I personally like parks like that.

I guess it really depends on the trails you select and the direction.

When I went to WC with @JimN , I am sure he took us to some of the easier routes and it wasn't terrible.... still hard and there were hike a bike but it wasn't so bad that I never wanted to go back. However, I am sure there are parts of WC where death would be inevitable for this guy.

HM, there are some sections I refused to go in a certain direction. Like Jack's Tail.... no f'n way I am going to climb that SOB. I'll go down it... but you are going to have to put a gun against my head to make me go up.

How does WC compare to Sourlands?
Looking to try and squeeze in a mother's day morning ride. Is it easy to get lost there
