OOS MOGA

What do you use for non downhill knee pads? I have a pair of POC dh pads that are murder to try and pedal with. Would be nice to have something light and easy to pedal for some of those less extreme days
The Leatt and Daniese trail/enduro stuff is really comfy. I have the Daniese trail skins

Did the Komen 5k this morning at Liberty State Park in the rain with MrsQ and kids (lazy offspring chose to walk...). She just started exercising as her last 5k, late last year, with no training was a disappointing 37mins. This was a tune up for a June 5k and she's looking to get under 26. As expected, terrible conditions with mud everywhere. Also it wasn't clear that it was not mat timed so we lost lots of time the waiting to start and the first half mile dodging people and puddles. But the course was super scenic and fast despite the occasional headwinds . I felt really good but stopped often to keep her on pace and offer words of encouragement. We had a good time.View attachment 94687View attachment 94688

Nice job taking on the weather! badass in shorts and short sleeve.!!

see if you two can work in the balloonfest 5k - includes parking, festival pass, grass seating for concert.
it is a mixed surface run, lots of fun. breakfast at my house after the run, then return to the park!!

I gave g form a try for trail ridding, and so far so good. No problem pedaling in them, and havnt really had any issues with them slipping down. I still tend to readjust them during stops, but i think thats more out of habit than anything else.

@TimBay
There are now know offs of this and NW chainrings. If you want to go real cheap that could be an option. Remember they were about 30ish for both

You think they'd hold up ok? I bought a super cheap Amazon multitool and it literally fell apart in my saddle bag after 1 ride

this is the link i purchased.....
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07227LDHY/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

so under $50 get you a solid cassette and link from where you are, unless you need a chain (which you might, but not always coming from a double front)

join jorba, get park multitool, a t-shirt, socks, jorbands, and karma!

? Deore...not sure. Ive seen 11-40 from sunrace on the cheap. At that point though, I might just go 11spd. Ive got a friend with a great deal on his slx mech/shifter.

If you can swing 11spd, do it ! I put 11spd on the Knolly, and it was the best thing I could have done. You'er best bet on the cheap would be 30t NW chainring, and wider range 9spd cassette, but by the time you by a decent chainring and cassette and a new chain, you'er getting, if not past, half the price of going to 11. I've done the one up cage route on my 10spd, and it worked ok with both sunrace, and shimano cassettes, but i avoided the cassette conversations, so cant speak to that. I did have a bad experience with a Praxis 40t braking teeth though. What I wouldnt do, is buy the 30t ring without getting a new cassette. By the time you get a bigger cassette on there, your chainring will already be wareing in, along with your chain. I know its expensive to do all at once, but its really the best way. Trust me, i've tried all the cheap ass ways to go wide range...lol. Besides, its sort of counterproductive to add more front teeth, even one, if your end game is really a lower gear ratio overall.

I’ve been using GForm pads for a few years. Great to pedal in but stretch out after a couple of seasons. They sell a knee/shin combo or each separately.

Yeah when I lived in NYC and spent a good amount of time in Brooklyn, the guys in charge showed me how to find a really good hoe. Hoe hunting takes time and patience. Seems like hoes today now aren't good as before. It also doesn't matter where it's made as I've had some great China made hoes.
I’ve been use It since I was 8 years old helping my parent do chores in the rice fields!
It wasn’t made in China, it was local hoes all kind shape and sizes
So,I’m a hoe expert since very young!!

I've looked at the G forms. They just dont seem like they would really protect much in a rocky crash. I think I'd prefer something a little more beefy. I have a pair of fox launch pro elbow pads that I like, may try their knee pads out

I would not recommend it for a creek. Really geared for a trail rider that wants some additional protection.

^^^This. Get that cheap SLX shifter and derailleur from your buddy. Get a Sunrace 11-46T cassette. The Sunrace has more logical gaps between the gears than a Shimano cassette anyway. Figure out how to mount a single 30T chainring to your cranks and do it. It will make a huge difference to your riding. Really. It will.

Poc 2.0 is probably what you have. Poc Air are easier to pedal with on. I also like the G-Form knee sleeves.

I have Troy Lee pads that are really good at keeping me safe but they shift a lot so I only use them on my arms since my leg sizing is strange.
