Didn't realize it at the time but upon looking at the picture, it looks like I rode to the top of a volcano.....

Lunch with my Rockwood client in West Windsor was supposed to precede Sourlands, but my back was still strained from Sunday and Mercer Woods is closer so I parked there. Rode some trails that I hadn’t seen in three years and some new ones more accessible to today’s parking lot.

When I got there, the back was twinging and I got out of the truck intending to get back in and go home, but changed my mind and hit it. The trails were in great shape, weather was great and my back held up so it was a win-win.

Here’s a picture of the reservoir with the Mercer Oaks GC on the far shore:

3/6/2017: Plan for today was Jungle Habitat. After riding Wawayanda on 3/5, I figured Jungle was good to go. As I arrive at the lot, I get a work phone-call telling me of another work obligation which will now cause me to have very limited time for this ride. Argh!

In usual fashion, I enter on Animal Chute. After the water crossing, it was feeling a bit greasy, so I jumped out to one of the Safari roads. I hoped that somewhat higher ground might help. I tooled around a bit and popped back in on Warthog. It wasn't long before I was feeling like I was leaving ruts. I'm sure the best plan would've been to get up Otter Slide to the ridge, but...time was limited. So, I just got out of the woods and made loops in the big lot. Thus, the ride title: "The lamest ride ever at Jungle Habitat". I even tried to write my screen name on Strava (see pic). Not too bad for "no look". Swung by the airport overlook and out, for barely over 1 hour.

Life was conspiring against me again yesterday; one thing after another was coming up requiring immediate attention. Solve one problem, then the next, then the next. Solve enough problems and you get to go riding. I got to go riding.

My Enduro is rolling well and handling nice, bonus. Found the hookup to the Middleway Greensex at Pierson Ave. on the south side of Rt1. I needed to swing around a short distance away from the gate with the NO TRESPASSING sign, to a corner of the PSEG lot where there was already a path from other trailblazers who had gone before. Then follow a short and direct link to the bike path.

Today I WFH, so will try to sneak a ride in later between the raindrops. If you need one of the products I work on, you're in bad shape. Stay away if you can. The flavor for the day is working though details on the manufacturing scaleup of a single-use Cement Dispensing System used in spinal surgery. It's not as cool as writing your screen name with GPS in the PL of Jungle, but it does keep the Peanut Butter in the cupboard. Lots of injection molded parts, tubesets, and check valves. Ouchy even thinking about spinal cement being injected into my back at 2500psi.

Enjoy the day!

As usual, I'm late on the bonus announcement but this one doesn't really matter anyway, since you cant get it until this weekend:

Week 12: 03/06/2017 to 03/12/2017 - Full moon ride! Post a picture of you riding under the full moon. The full moon will be 3/12 at 10:15 am, so rides & pictures from 3/11 and 3/12 will count for the bonus.

3/6 - Double MTB

1:48:28 - Before work ride at Greenway / Water Co. Conditions were cold, frozen and perfect.. I was able to get to the trail head by 5:30 which enabled me to do two laps of Water Co. Pushing two laps of Water Co at tempo pace is one hell of a full body workout. Usually I do one lap before work. This one tired me out. My goal for that ride was to ride Water Co as quick and as smooth as possible with minimal dabs. One minor dab was had.

The bike was covered in a shell of ice...

This shows that a rim does flex slightly at the tension points.

1:02:00 - Lunch ride was an easy cruise to / from and around Washington crossing trails. The conditions were getting greasy fast due to the temp rising to mid forties. I tried the opposite direction than the last time I rode there and I still have yet to find a solid look I would call a fun lunch rip.

This may be my new lunch rest spot.. just take a seat and relax for a bit..

I keep falling off the pack day by day as the new job is all consuming right now.

3/4/17: Saturday....well....I choose to hang with the Mrs. and drink beers instead of riding in the frigid wind tunnel that it was. No riding for me.

3/5/17: Sunday rolled out and headed over to the BSA camp for the Short Track race. Like others have already said....it was pretty chilly out. The cold temps mess with my head and body as I can never seem to get warmed up although I may be sweating. Legs and lungs just feel as if I haven't ridden in months. This day was no different. Keep in mind I'm more of a locomotive style riding and am not what one would consider speedy. That being said, Sunday's race turned out to be especially slow for me as I didn't do nearly as well as I would have hoped. Regardless, I had a blast; the loop was great; and it was great to catch up with many of you.

Warm up....

Trailside Center. No ride.

Advocacy-in this case listening to NIMBYs making up facts. Surreal experience.

Will be gone for five days beginning tomorrow for a #boardmeeting. @Mountain Bike Mike and @w_b can have a truce and spend time with the kids.

I'm out of comission at the moment... losing a battle with a cold... didn't ride yesterday and there is a very good chance I'm not riding today.

I found a little area that someone was working, tucked in a small patch of woods between the municipal building and the tracks. Next to a small brook. Nothin' to squawk about, but potential for some jumps, or a pump track, something. Then I loop the park and notice this sign at the ramp that might be relatively new. Maybe not.

Back in the office today; gonna try and leave early and go ride. My son Matthew wants everyone to know that he lost his first tooth yesterday. He's got 2 others loose, while J-J's teeth are still holding tight.
