"Official" BIYF 2016-2017 thread

rode Clayton today, about 90 mins but strava decided to stop in the middle of the run. So I got one hour today. It seems I need n+1. My main mtn bike fork is getting rebuilt. So if a person wants to ride and they only have a 95 rockhopper with semi street tires and questionable brakes, what is a person to do? Go forth and ride it. It actually did much better than I thought. The tires gripped really good until I hit some sand. And not having shocks reminded me how much I like front suspension.

2/24/2017: Mahlon Dickerson. I was fishing for some conditions a day or so ago, but didn't get a response and there was nothing on trail conditions either. So, I decided that somebody had to go check. Trails were 3 of 4. Several ratings were entered in trail condition thingy today. 70 degrees in February!!! This doesn't count as winter riding. I was in shorts, a t-shirt and summer riding gloves.

During this time I was also finding out I was a going to be a Dad and instantly I became worried about when/where I will live because my place was sold so I had to find a new place- I decided on moving in with my girlfriend and her two roommates for a few months to bank some cash until June. Today i had a Dr apt and he gave the green light for riding.. so riding is what I did.

Congrats man! Get your rides in now buddy! We're in the same boat, I have until June until I need to learn the time bending skills.

Did some easy laps around the short track course.

You took it easy with a 3 1/2 hour ride. You are a machine!

Well, I hit some easier trails and some road, although I was still out for quite awhile. I figured it was gorgeous out and I wouldn't have much time to ride this weekend. When I say that I took it easy, that generally means I went slow on tamer trails; it doesn't necessarily mean that it was a short ride 😛

2/25/2017: Local Enduro ride. Hit the road and took several off road excursions (golf course, school yards, local woods, RR track, etc.) When I was coming off the RR tracks, a cop actually stopped to warn me that the MTA doesn't like people walking or riding the RR and you can actually get arrested. He really didn't bust my balls, but now that I've been warned, I have to be extra careful since I like to use these tracks to cut out road sections. After that I cut through some other woods and found a few of these old Rheingold "chug a mug" bottles from the 60's (see pic). Off in the woods at my old high school they have some climbing obstacles now. Where was that shit when I was a yut?

Personal best longest ride..91 miles. 6h 22m

The ride down the coast in the morning was not too much fun. Visibility was nonexistent in the fog. And a headwind (not horrible but annoying enough)

Plan was to take path out to allaire from manasquan and do some loops then ride back but couldn't find the trailhead (even though I've done it before) ugh.

So rode back up the coast (wind at my back!!). Went up sandy hook and hit a little Huber and hartshorne.

Loving the cross bike. Rides road well enough and then can take it into the woods!
