Hey everyone! I'm new to riding in general. I started commuting to work last year via MTB along the Raritan Canal. It's a good 9 miles each way. I can't wait to jump back on the saddle once the snow starts to melt. I'm also interested in competing in some local races this year, but the bike I have is crap. Have any suggestions on a decent entry level mtb racing bike?

btw, names Eric.

welcome to the boards. As for a racing capable bike, many are capable as it is a lot about the rider, you will hear lots about 29ers, don't get suckered in

I gotta say, I'm partial to the 29er. After riding a 29er all last season, I rode a friends 26" and just didn't feel comfortable anymore. I've got nothing against a 26". But my soul's perfectly matched with a 29er.

Your going to fit right in. 😀

As far as racing, the discussion of often dominates the board during the season. You will learn a lot if you choose.

after you ride a 26er all this season, the 29er won't feel right anymore!
