This was brought up at the H2H awards that NICA will be supporting an upstart program that will promote HS and middle school racing programs here in NJ.

@pedals and myself will be attending a coaches Q/A meet and greet that is scheduled March 10 7pm at Olde Mill Inn in Bernardsville. If you have interest in becoming a coach or getting your schools involved contact Tom Kruse at tom@newjerseymtb.org

Inaugural Season to start in spring of 2017! Let's build the future of our sport together.

I've been following this as well... starting just in time, my oldest is in kindergarten and would love to race. We were thinking of doing bmx, but weighed that taking away our xc rides just for the sake of competition.

Really great to see folks on here ready to get their hands dirty. I approached our school last year to start a club but was handed a logistic nightmare of monumental proportion if i so wanted to choose to do so. So nothing happened. This just secures the deal with NICAs support and background. Super excited to get this started.

I filmed the very first NICA league race on the East coast and I'm stoked to see it's finally coming to NJ. My son is starting HS next year. I won't be coaching a team but I'm looking forward to helping in any way I can, filming/volunteering/etc, to help grow the league.

By the way that's our boy Dillon winning the junior varsity race.

I definitely willing to participate in any way I can , with my oldest about to be a freshman and my youngest a grade schooler , who both love to bike .........whatever I can do I am in !!!

I got the email about this today... My kids are still young, but it's be great to get involved early so there's a solid program in place by the time they hit high school... This is great.

In order to start up a team, do you need a certain amount of members? I would love to start a program at my school, but feel the numbers will be quite low initially.

Check out the NICA Web site so many questions are answered there.

Because of the relatively low interest in NJ (at least initially ) it is likely that 'composite' teams will form based on kids in certain geographic areas. Schools with larger interest could form their own teams. The meeting on March 10 may provide more info about how things will be expected to begin. Regardless, if you have an in at any school, start talking to people there and make them aware that this is coming to NJ.

Signed up - very interested in helping out. Having spent years running a region of the National Auto Sport Association ( https://www.nasaproracing.com/ ) and teaching competition driving this should be easy. Managing, hosting and promoting autocross, track days and wheel to wheel racing was a pain in the ass. The tech inspections alone were a nightmare.
