National Championships at Mt Snow

I've emailed the director and a few other people who's names were on the contact list, hopefully I'll hear back. And Freddy, there ain't no next year, if you want to snuggle, we need to do it NOW!! Let's go son!!

-Jim.

I tried calling some of them last year and they were pretty helpful. They also called me back when I left a voicemail! Are you in or still on the fence?

Got a reply from Kelli, the singlespeed race is same time as the Expert race on Saturday...

-Jim.

I should have done some more research on the matter. 🙁

I have the entire car ride to Fair Hills to talk you into going😀 So far I can't find anyone to carpool or room with...I'm still not sure if I can afford to go by myself🙁

-Jim.

PS-DeNoma may be convinced as well, we could have a threesome. Who would get to be "Lucky Pierre"?:hmmm:

Tommy aka Cyclocrossfool and I have both qualified and are going to Mt. Snow. .... I will be racing er surviving in the Women's 40+ Sport class and my honey will be racing the 45-49 Sport class too.

Hey Christina,

I didn't see you in the results... any update on the collarbone? Have you been on your mtn bike yet? Are you going to be racing again soon?

Your 2 9er boys could have used some support today. 2 of the guys rode single speed and looked good on the first lap. I think they all punched out at some point though. I also noticed that 26 inch full suspension bikes seemed to be the fast ticket.

Yeah, I caught that in the results. I'm not sure what happened, I haven't talked to anyone yet...

Hey Pokgirl,

I'm not able to ride the mountain bike yet. I've been on the trainer and actually went 12 miles on my road bike tonight. My Dr. said, "If the bone continues to shift, I'm going to screw and plate it" I see him on Tuesday. I think it's healed and hope to ride the NY State MTB series. I thought you would have raced in MT. Snow, you are such a strong climber. If you are doing the Darkhorse 40, I'll see ya there. I going to ask George if I can help out with scoring or something. I miss riding alot 🙁 See ya soon Heidi ...
Also awesome rides by Ellen White and Marrianne Santangelo, you guys are National Champs! These two ladies are nicest people and incredible riders
Christina ... 🙂

Thanks Christina. I sure hope things go well for you at the doctor this week. Screws does not sound fun. Lets us know how you make out.

I rode Windham instead - closer to home and the course more ride-able (at least when I had to make the decision. I haven't seen any race reports yet on the Mt Snow course... Anyone???).

I won't see you at the Darkhorse 40 either 🙁. Root66 race that day. Definitely at the NY series! We miss you, Christina!

Climb was changed to be straight up the f-ing mountain. The downhill was sanitized so you could ride it on a cross bike. Last years course was a lot better.

Yes, they did some changes from previous National courses. They added 2 super steep climbs, and took out the first 2 single-tracks and only replaced one 🙁. Plus, added some new sections to replace some taken out on the descent. They also added a log pile, which is real cool and very east coast. The biggest difference was that it was bone dry and 100% rideable from Wednesday to Friday, and then Thunderstorms ripped through and turned the single track back into real vermont singletrack :getsome:. I couldn't have asked for better conditions for Saturdays race, as I like those wet roots 😀. May have added 10 minutes to my race, but well worth the fun!

This was big my event for the year, and I am still exhausted, unpacking and washing bikes. A full report will follow in a few days.

Pixy - you are sick!! 🙂

Great pics! Can't wait for the full report!

I hope to catch up with you at the midweek Ringwood ride.

Mt Snow report:

I have been to National Championships in 3 different places around the country, and Mt Snow definitely has the best course, and the best spectators, in my opinion. I saw 3 racers wearing the MTBNJ colors, Team Bulldog, Campmor, Black Bear Cycling, Town Cycling, and quite a few other H2h racers out there as well. Nice job representing for the Jersey State!

The Pro Women's finish was incredible. Georgia Gould led the whole race with Mary McConneloug close behind, and then bridged up for a sprint to the finish. As for the Pro Men, all I have to say is that Adam Craig is so fast, it looks like his tires don't even touch those wet roots.

Mr Pixy was announced to the line as the "the drum guy, and oldest living semi-pro". He finished all his laps strong, not getting lapped. Not bad considering he could barely push his bike last year before the hip replacement.

I also would like to send a big thanks out to the Kristensen's and the Stickle's who helped marshall after their races and offered the rest of us racers some awesome cheering. We DO appreciate it! The Mt Mt Snow fans are always great. The National Championship may not come back to Snow next year, but I hope some of you will have that opportunity again.
