Jake,

Looks like a good effort to me. Keep up the good work! Might have to sign you up for a century ride at some point.

i've already been thinking about it...hopefully a road century by the end of the summer. i just have to stay consistent with my riding and i don't see that being a problem.

16.3 would have kept pace with the group i was with today, shit it would have lapped us.

good job

thanks!

40 minutes on the hamster wheel today. data here:

spring, spring. where for art thou, spring? fawking 40 minutes spin-o-rama on the hampster wheel today.

one interesting thing. i haven't been on the scale in a week or so. last time i was on it, i was 220.5...1/2 lb away from the 21x barrier. well, today i get on and i'm fawking 216!! i could not believe it. if the numbers are even close, i've lost almost 20 lbs since christmas. at this rate i could be in the 20x range by mid april when i plan on REALLY riding.

yeah...but if that really happens i'm going to look seriously at a dedicated road bike. 😱

Serious congrats on the weight droppage!

If you want to take things to the next level I can almost make a guarantee that a road bike will do it.

The long term performance gain is more than you can imagine. The benefit of long smooth miles will be evident to you.

I can't think of one guy who I ride with who does not own a road bike.

I am going to pick up at least 2 Road bike demos for the spring. If you are interested you can borrow one for a week or so.

If you have a serious interest in a road bike you might consider a fitting. Even if you don't buy a road bike from me you can come down and see what it should feel like to be set up properly on a bike. That way you can make an informed decision about proper fit. I won't charge you.

BTW.. Don't be discouraged if your weight increases as you begin to ride. You might consider a scale that measure you body fat percentage. That is the only # you really should care about. If your pants get to be too big then throw them away so you can't go back.

thanks for the offer jay. if i do look at a roadie bike it won't be unit next year at the earliest...when the 07s are on sale...and my wife forgets about this year's purchase. 😀

Maybe you should work on your jedi powers..

Wife-:"isn't it time you got another bike, it seems like forever ago that you bought your last one"..

unfortunately, the force is stong with her and she's not as easily swayed as the feeble minded storm troopers.

PP/LM today w/ heythorp. a lot of fun, a little sloppy a little snowy. data here:

one important thing to note: DO NOT buy exiwolfs and expect to have any real traction in mud or shedding of said mud. when these things gum up, they GUM UP. at one point i looked at my front tire and saw nothing. it looked like i was riding a big, muddy donut.

ummm.....donuts....

yeah, as if someone posting something relevant is going to pollute this disaster.

got out today for 15 or so miles. i wanted to do some hill repeats so i rode to the top of mountain road twice, over once, then back. i thought i put in some decent climbing but the GPS says otherwise:

tomorrow i'm going to (hopefully) get out and do my REAL climbing. we'll see if i can squeeze it in.

hill loop

i added another loop to the original which took it a bit wider than last time i rode and also decided to ride rte 206 instead of heading up the mountain. i though that it would give me more sustainable climbing. data here:

i guess the GPS elevation data from last time was bad...REAL bad...since i added some additional miles and hills to this ride and it didn't crack 3,000 feet. i was expecting to be closer to 4,000 but that didn't happen. 🙁

I've read the Garmin altitude numbers are pretty inaccurate. Try mapping it out with routeslip.com and see what it says.

huh, really? either i climbed like a mad man this time (which i thought happened) or well, i'm a big fawking.....

well, since norm fawked up the weekend, and pre-weekend, i was on the hampster wheel for 35 minutes. worked out for about 25 minutes before that doing mostly power cleans.

You should start trying to up that hamster wheel time a little at this point. JMO.
