Mercer County Park Conditions

When heading into the park from the East Side entrance, the second trail head on the right has broken glass sprinkled across a good portion of the trail. I'd advise not to ride it until we can get a team out there to clean it up properly.

East picnic area entrance? Is that on the Blue or red trail?

Hey guys I am headed out there after lunch for a short ride. I can check - clean up the glass. Take pic's too.
I want to inspect the dirt work we did and see how it is holding up under traffic.

Muddy sprocket nailed the spot. I checked all the trail heads adjacent to the east Picnic area- nada.
I removed a bunch of glass on the surface.

To the OP ( Stevie) this trail section runs along the bottom edge of an old "bottle dump"
Back in the day.. farmers didn't have trash pickup.
Everything unburned (trash) went into the nearest convenient swamp or back field that didn't matter at the time.

Perhaps we can remediate by moving some clean soil from above onto the trail surface and rerouting a bit.

Thanks for taking care of the glass. I think it would defiantly be wise to do some work on that portion of the trail...

Tom: was unaware of the area being a dump when it was farmland... makes sense as there has always been glass on that section of trail but none elsewhere in the park !

Got to Mercer about 3 after the winds died down. Conditions were super. Very little mud anywhere even in the spots that are usually soft. HUGE tree down across Red. Coming from VanNest area, past the tennis courts, right at the very last left turn that takes you down into the swampy area for the last 1/4 mi of single track. About 20" in diameter and 20' long, no way around it.
