Kittatinny Valley State Park Conditions

So I just called up the park office to get their position on cutting...I'm jorba as well as ny/nj trails conf certified to chainsaw but they said we need to take a photo and location screenshot and email to kittatinnyvalleycamping@dep.nj.gov. I did however pass along my name/number to the park supervisor who apparently may be open on specific occasions (big storms) to allow us to cut...but they would reach out if/when needed.

I rode yesterday...there's a fair amount to report. I didn't bother taking pics/geo locating. I will next time.

I met with Park last year and was told we can cut trees on ground but anything hanging or large to send to them. Their left hand typically does not know what their right hand is doing

Emailed the park with my Strava link. Thanks for the tip!

Kitt is in great shape. No mud, no flood, just a handful of downed trees. See my Strava for locations and pics:
For my future reference, how do you see location of pics on strava?? I have yet to figure that out, unless you need the paid strava.

Follow up: KVSP park rep responded to my email saying they're not on Strava. My acct is public, but maybe they're reluctant to click on a link for security purposes. I sent her a screenshot of the map showing the locations instead. Hope it works.

I've found the Strava pic locations unreliable if more than one is loaded. Works 90% or the time at least half the time.

Any screen shot with the trail and a cross trail should help.

One of these days I'll do a proper trailforks write-up for issue reporting.

It may have to do with my dinosaur of a phone. Settings all allow location services. No such luck.

iPhone? If so, make sure location services are on for camera. When viewing a photo from the photo library, click the "i" button and it should display the location. If it's there, Strava should be able to see it. Note that the Strava map only shows the photo locations if you're viewing on a browser. That feature doesn't work on the Strava phone app.

This was the golden ticket. How ridiculous. All this time of not being able to see geotagged locations and here we are.

I was actually over there cutting today....showed them my jorba chainsaw cert and what trees I'd be cutting. Took out some big blowdowns that were blocking trails. There is more to go but those were the worst of them.
Thanks for your service. I exchanged emails with the park rep on 3/19, but I rode there as recently as yesterday and there were few signs of progress.

There's a tree down at the base of the first big descent on Glacial Trail heading CW from the parking lot. I mis-timed the front wheel lift and did a 26 mph superman last night. LOL

There's also a tree down at the very top of the yellow climb towards the radio tower. A go-around is forming fast.

There's one on Vernal just north of the intersection with Red.

Sorry no pics, but that is my memory from last night.
