JORBA FEST WRAP UP

Now that we have children, I (selfishly?) try to steer them towards things I enjoy. Both kids hit biking milestones this summer, and I couldn't be happier. When we were getting ready for the kids ride someone, said this is the future of JORBA, and the ride rolled out. I asked Colin what he thought of his first group ride. His reply, "Awwwwwesome!" and all smiles.

Looking around and seeing all of the families mingling with the old farts, young bikers, and everyone else in between, emphasized the bond we all have formed on something as basic as two wheels and dirt. I was very proud to be part of this event, and can't say enough about the effort put forward by Dawn, Joe, and everyone else who helped put the festival together.

Future of JORBA? Should get a shovel into their hands at an early age 😉

Woo hoo

Had a great time again this year! Thanks to everyone involved, I knew a little rain would not dampen the spirits of a bunch of mtb'ers. Rode the 9am Stephens long inter. ride, broke my (12 year old) seat post at
mile 11.5 or 12 and managed to make mile 15 alive although there couldn't have been enuff downhill involved. Saw the HumanVise vise things which is always badass. Watched the skinnies contest. Then, won nothing in the raffle for the second year in a row (it's for a good cause)! I have one complaint though, if I'm going to not win anything in the raffle, could the winning # for the bike not be one number away from my ticket???? That was kinda like a giant kick in the 'nads!!!!

On the contrary, another year has gone by, and I have not met Lenny or TonyRide.
Did you notice a dashingly handsome dude that won, among things, a yellow and black pannier set? Well that was me. Show up to one of our Monday or Wednesday rides and you'll met me and Doofus (Lenny).

I can't believe you can have 12yr old post, if look at my parts bin I must have like 4 bent post from the last two years.. Hope you enjoyed that ride and come back for a bigger one. Great bunch in that group. Matt

Just wanted to say thanks to John at CycleWorks. I had a great time at his skills clinic. It had some cool obstacles.

haha

No, I've killed about four or five rear rims, I rip the spokes out of them, but I did just get rid of the Specialized Race tires that I love and have had for at least ten years in favor of some Mobsters that I've had for about five years. I do love that rigid bike, the slippery conditions this year had me more cautious thru some of the rock gardens and logs that I could've cleared, but I do dig the Allamuchy, even on that bike, great place to improve on both fitness and finesse.
Also, if I'd have won that 29er I could've at least sold it and gotten a XL framed 29er and drank all that kool-aid I keep hearing so much about, it was a pretty tall M frame too, I drooled over it the whole time the raffle was going on. Great times peeps, I hope I can continue my streak of being there every year.

For being 6'6" and 225lbs, I don't kill tons of parts. Knock on wood.

Oh yeah, I met Ho Ho Santa and won a prize, too 😛

great to meet you too! steve
had a great time, kudos to jorba! got there late, contemplating the whole morning to make the drive or stay home and wait till next year. quoting clarkstein from the board " we can stand around in the rain all day and look like jackasses better than any other group of geeks out there". got soaked,
great trails, got my mtbnj t-shirt. will do it again. joe

That was definitely the coolest and most pumped up crowd, in spite of the weather. Jorbafest has the best vibe of anywhere! I wish Jeff could have gotten his show off safely as we had some stuff planned together but totally understand it was not in the cards. Wish there was more time.....

Luke, outstanding pics brother....can't believe you caught all those flying bone shards mid-air! Glad they weren't in the next picture. The cringing kids inthe background rule! I can almost make a fist now......almost. Must do that MD ride....soon.

Mare45, you owe me a hug 😀....can't believe you missed the show!

I left before the bus got stuck, that coulda been interesting....

Shaggz.....I thought you'd have a beard or something 🙂

I had such a good time; meeting great people and enjoying the overall vibe of the event. Even with the poor weather, I also saw a lot of smiling faces and heard positive comments about our local trails. I'm sorry to say I wasn't able to ride for I had my little girl with me, but definately enjoyed myself. My daughter's favorite part was the little Italian Greyhound running around. Thank You again Jorba for putting on such a great event as well as those volunteers (clarkstein) who helped my set up my yellow & white "food" tent.

I was standing pretty much right in front of you behind the loud screaming kid🙄 and my daughter was off to your right. I was watching her watch you set up the trap and when you put the bone in there she looked at me and came running over. I told her she didn't have to watch so she did the "hide behind my leg and look but if it gets gross I can hide" thing. She watched and thought it was awesome.

On the ride home I hear her fussing around in the backseat and I ask her what she's doing. She then says, "I'm pulling my toes apart"

It was an interesting ride home.

Great show, thanks!
