It is an equalizer. Kindof.

There isnt a replacement for skill.
On any bike @mattybfat rides away from me as soon as the pitch turns down.

I can't keep up in the twisties with @jdog.

But when we are going strait ish and up, I don't slow them down. Our motors throttle back at the same speed.

Uphill tech that doesn't require trial skills is now next level fun. Sure I'd like to clear it on the fatbike, so maybe in the future.

My thoughts on straight up climbing:
Analog: I tend to climb at a rate I won't blow up.
On the ebike I go harder. Probably cause if the time is shorter.
What is better ? Longer at endurance or shorter at tempo or higher?

It is just fun...

Me and a bunch of friends spent a week riding in Arkansas (Eureka Springs and Bentonville). Everyone has and brought their ebikes down except one guy so he rented one for the week. Six days of riding it (Orbea Rise H20) and now he's looking to get one.

I am the same. Great for vacations where you get to see a ton and stay fresh for the next day, otherwise a decade or so in the future for me.
I agree. At my current level of fitness, riding an e-bike at Davis a few weeks ago was the difference between me surviving three straight days of hard, technical rides and actually enjoying them. I would have been spent after the first day and struggled to survive the next two rides. Instead, I was able to enjoy it. And it wasn't like there was a ton of climbing as two of the rides we shuttled to the top of the trails. But as Patrick mentioned, technical climbs and sections that can be ridden with more of a "momentum" riding style rather than a "trials' style are super-fun on an e-bike. I've been riding longer travel bikes on rocky, technical trails since I bought my Lawwill DH-6 back in 1998, so that straight-line momentum style is what I'm used to.

For me, I don't have a need for one nor can I justify the expense. It would be a luxury purchase. I have decreased lung capacity (from cancer) and I work hard on my rides to keep my lungs and heart healthy. I can already achieve this with the bikes I have and my garage and shed are already too full with bikes.

It wasn't when I logged in this morning

Legs still work, so no, and I like working my Type 2 fibers.
I had the same thinking. But it can also depend on who you ride with. If some of your riding friends start getting e-bikes, buying one may become inevitable or you don't ride with them anymore. It wasn't until I did a couple of rides where I was the only one on a regular bike that I started thinking about getting one as those rides simply sucked and were not fun.
