above pics of three different trails.

nice,
almost went there after dinner but didn't have enough time. will have to check these out. are those the flagged trails off the red?

no.this is different.
there were more on the yellow trails side(HM summit).aprox 6-7miles loop of singletrack totally flowy and rideable/climbable.

I ride High Mtn all the time. 5 min from my house. Have yet to see these "new" trails. Where exactly are they? Do they come off the Yellow trail on the way up to the summit? If so, approximately where?

I usually start at the trail head parking lot and ride Red>Yellow>White>Red or the reverse.

from trailhead kiosk,.stay on the red until you come to white trails.pass that and kept going on red.approx 1/4 miles there's a trails on your left.it was kinda off from red trails or quite hidden from the views, for untrained eyes you can't see theres trails there.you have to look around carefully to find them.

now the easiest way is..i either give you a tour.

or if you continue riding on red trail from kiosk, all the way down towards circle.
you will reach yellow trail leading up to summit.
now,..when you'ved reach yellow(on your right) stop...don't go down that stream.slowly look to your left (while you were still standing on red and yellow)
there a singletrack trails going up hill on your left.if you follow it will dump you to yellow trails on the west side.

if you took yellow leading up to summit(on the right) rode down fo a bit (only 100 yards) look for singletrack on your left,do not ride on main trail(yellow) altho you will see it if you took the yellow, the new trails is cossing yellow at some point.just keep your eyes open, look for singletrack.you can't missed it.
when you found a singletrack,..you just kept follow it.it will winding up switcbacking up all the way up to summit (east side)

pardon my english and my directions.
anyway,.i have time tommorow morning and monday too, also available on wednesday hit me PM.i give you proper tour.

Checked out High Mountain for the first time after work on Friday, so didn't have too much time to get lost, which I did...took Red up to Yellow, then lost Yellow pretty quickly...Red was clearly marked, Yellow not so much, unless I just lost it. Sun was going down on me, so I just double backed the way I came, went up Red a little more before turning around and heading back to lot. I read on the board at the trail head that some of the Yellow markers are on rocks (which I was not looking for), so maybe that's why I lost it. Would like to come back when I have some more time to explore...

Went today for the first time. Very cool place. I made it up to the summit and then towards the bottom got a flat and didn't have a spare tube so it was a long walk back. It was my first time with a pretty long downhill with a lot of loose decent sized rocks. Definitely a new experience I will need a lot more practice with but a lot of fun.

Met a guy there though that said he was making a bunch of new trails. He was marking them with yellow caution tape and I saw some small flags marking another trail.

He said he wasn't on this board but was a local rider who wanted some more trails at the park.

I've seen that guy up there as well. He said he lives on the backside of the mountain. Seems like he's cutting some cool stuff through there.

With respect to the loose rock decent, i usually go the other direction. Basically impossible to climb that loose rock hill, so after a good hike-a-bike to the top it's an awesome ride back down towards the red trail.

Im going to try and get over there this Sunday around 8am if anyone wants to meet up. I ride slow, so no pressure.

Hey all! Since this is the most recently replied thread, I was just wondering, how difficult are the trails in High Mountain Park Preserve? I plan to ride around there next week and seeing if I should try out the trails a bit. Thanks for any responses!

quite tough alright, but nothing like ringwood or wawayanda.
for me not difficult at all.i don't know your level fitness and tech skill tho but it's not really suitable for beginner, more lean to intermediate to expert.

with lots of loose rock, and rock garden too and lots of climbing, lesser flowy trails hence the rocks.this trails will make you hate or love. there's some nice singletrack too but mostly are fire roads.there's numerous unmarked trails too wich is very nice (if you can find it) i hope you like it,coz i do love riding there.

Been riding in here discovering some of these unmarked trails and this place is riding really good right now. Busting out about 1,500 ft of climbing in 9 miles. You get rewarded with some good downhills too. As lion said you have to explore because the fun stuff isn't on any map.

Hoping to get out there. Where do you pick up the new stuff? I have been on most of the marked trails. Any help is appreciated.

Any survey flags you see are good single track. Keep the GPS on so you won't get lost. If you can find the blue trail that's pretty fun too. Any ATV tracks you see might just be from my fatbike ;-). See you guys on the trails!

Download the Maprika App for IOS or Android. I added the High Mountain Park map to it. This should help you get the lay of the land. Not much need to venture into the north west side of the park at this time. Lion has provided some decent instructions on how to find your way around. My advice is Go explore this place and you will eventually find the fun stuff.

Take Red trail in from WPU or Yellow Trail from circle on Reservoir drive

I rode High Mountain on 12/24 for the first time, and I gotta tell ya- those are some fun trails! In the recent past, mtb-ers have been cutting in single track and doing a fine job of it - thank you to those hard at work! Most of the hiking trails are so washed out and rutted ,plus they're double-track, and just not fun to ride. We did 9 miles there and only doubled back on a couple trails. The newer switchback to the overlook is a killer climb but a well made trail. A lot more climbing and rocks than anticipated so I had a blast! Usually ride CR, JH, Sour and Waway so it was a pleasant surprise.
