H2H Race #4 - Bulldog Rump KVSP

if they were lime flavored you're welcome =P

They were purple, but I'm sure someone else got yours. I hope whoever lost the one's I ate got through it ok. I was kicking myself for not bringing any when I realized how hot it was gonna be...

Was it a tube? How about 2 pedros levers? 2 co2s taped together with a genuine innovations co2 injector? Specialized water bottle? Were the shot blocks strawberry?

Yea, I lost some stuff. 😀

Sorry, but I missed your yard-sale.

I lost something but it wasn't on the trail. I took off my Giro gloves and put it on the hood of the car. After I packed up, I drove off without realizing my gloves were still on the hood.

That was my first race at kvsp. I did ok in cat 3. There were a couple bottlenecks on some of the early climbs. I was a bit frustrated with my lack of stamina though. I started feeling much better after climbing the long hill towards the end and actually felt good going from the swithbacks to the finish line. Overall, I had fun and look forward to doing the Mooch Madness.

“What the fu*k is going on today?”

Easy: self-sabotage. You knew that if you aced this race, you'd have no choice but to upgrade to Cat 1, so your sub-conscience made sure that you didn't win.

Cat 2 4-ever!

Jeremy, sorry to hear about your bad luck but way to keep pushing through all that. And you still got 4th place! Good job. I've been there and while I'd kick myself in the rear for mistakes, etc. in the end, if I know I gave it my all, I'm at peace.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck Jeremy, I have had days like that. You just get that "shit now I have to get back up there fast!" thought in your head and you start riding more and more out of control. Nice finish though. Not sure if you are interested in championship points, but days like that are important.

Segundo, not at all suprised that you won...after riding with you, I would have bet money on it if there was a vegas line.

NIce seeing you out there Brad...its been a while!

yep - flash carbon, white kit... that was me... right at that first hill I knew I was in trouble...

dude introduce yourself next time... you doing DH40?

I'm out for the DH40. Still waivering on Mooch Madness. I think I saw you vomit at Stewart, too. That was nice.

I cant argue with this...

Thanks Segundo. Killer race by you.

Thanks Joe. This was a new experience for me in Cat 2 this year. Ive never had to chase (not to sound cocky) but I took the holeshot at wayway and LM and never really looked back. So to be 3 mils in the race and still chasing I was pressing more than I probably ever have before. That definitely contributed to my sloppy riding.

This same thing happened to me in 09. I was doing really awesome all year. Got to blue mountain and crashed early, then again, then just blew myself up trying to get back to the front. Dont read into it, happens to everyone eventually.

Lining up there were some familiar faces and many that were not familiar. I heard some guy call another guy a sandbagger, and there was a certain tone to his voice that I took as being serious. Maybe I misread it, but I found it interesting. I figured the guy getting called a sandbagger was the guy to follow.

Jeremy, that was me who was being called a sandbagger. Whether or not I am, is debatable. I'm racing Cat 1 in the MASS Series this year (and doing terrible), but because MASS Races are not USA Cycling sanctioned I do not have a Cat 1 license. I decided a few weeks ago to get a USA Cycling license, I hadn't had one in 3 years, and try to get a Cat 1 upgrade by racing a few races in NJ and VA. This has proven to be more difficult then I thought. I came in 3rd at Lewis Morris (you destroyed me there) and managed a nice big DNF yesterday due to a blown out tire, last race I do on Ignitor EXOs! Anyways, good racing ya and sorry you had bad luck!

LOL, that's awesome! You get welcomed back to NJ with calls of being a sandbagger. Nice!

I'm Liking the transition to Cat2

After destroying my drive train at Lewis Morris and getting my 1st DNF I was looking forward to KVSP.

Got to the park early for a pre-ride and headed out on the ST. About 2 miles in my rear tire flated. Pulled out CO2 and the Stan's wouldn't take so I ran/jogged with the bike to get back to the car and throw a tube in. And then the tube wasn't inflating properly WTF? Joe the Mechanic from Campmor (shout out) hooked me up with another tube, got it on the bike and sprinted to the starting line with about 1 1/2 minutes to spare before the start.

So with my pre-ride warm up out the window I sarted sprinting at go and after a couple of miles I was having gut cramps and simply felt like S%%$#
and had to back it down. Rest of the race went well but I felt sluggish from the heat and was pushing hard - so hard that my Heart Rate averaged 95% of max and I actually hit 102% of my prior max.

Finished the race with dodging the guy who had crashed before the finish (hope he's ok - it looked bad)

Finished mid-pack for my 3rd Cat 2 race - still figuring out pace though I'm not sure I could have pushed much harder without my heart exploding.

Congrats to Steve on 5th - I see a podium in your future &
Congrats Segundo on killing your first SS race- no surprise you were flying on that carbon SS beauty

ah shit. Nice. Somebody said the guy in the yellow jersey.. which I assume was another guy in a Yellow jersey... who eventually went on to win the race.

I think...??..

I hope to see you at the next race. Introduce yourself.

And your not kidding about the MASS. I took 18 of 23 at fairhill Cat 1

Anyone know what the outcome was with the guy who crashed and burned right near the finish of the Cat 2 race? His girlfriend/wife was sobbing so I am assuming it was fairly serious. They boarded and collared him but hopefully that was just precautionary.
