Going Long and Hard.

Random. I caught the start. Mr Vreeland in action. Only 999 miles to go!

Yeah, I just looked and the group he is in says "off route"
Just a glitch in the trackers?

I don't think so. If you look again, the pointy end has split up at the top. Looks like some choose to use the road and some stay on the red line. I imagine the only rule is that you need to get to the checkpoint. How you get there is presumably up to you.

Probably bits of local knowledge being passed around (e.g. "Don't eat the brown acid.")

It looks like the whole race is avoiding crossing the Little Susitna River 3 times. Looks like they may be headed for just one crossing? Possibly, just a thought. 🤔

I'm thinking he's catching some shut eye in Yentna 56 miles in. He's been there for almost 3 hours. Next stop is at 87 miles, at Skwentna. Do you think he will push on to Finger Lake stop at mile 124 in? It would put him at about 60 mile a day average. Godspeed Jim!

Whatever he's done seem to have paid off as he's gained mileage, looks like is middle of the pack now.

Let's assume the middle of a sleeping pack at CP#2.

Today will be interesting to see how that first full day goes. He/they did 56 miles last night which is somewhat batshit given they started at 2pm and it's the beginning. They must have been on a pretty hard pack road.

I assumed the tracker was just not updating, but now it appears that Robert May got a much earlier start on the day. Jim started moving maybe an hour ago (ish).

I guess we won't get real time updates on what's going on. Maybe he ate too many PB Cups last night.
