Going Long and Hard.

I started a Creatine cycle on Thanksgiving so the weight gain would be hidden amongst too many slices of Tofurkey and extra slices of Birthday Cake a couple days later…

I’ve been sort of hyper focused on getting my push strength up because it’s something I’ve basically ignored for years, like pretty much all cyclists. Even Coach Art’s Program ignores it so I’ve been supplementing his Routine with dumbell presses.

I don’t suggest the above mixture, it’s like a dirt flavored milk shake 😂

When our box of protein shakes run out I’ll clean that up to a vegan alternative. End goal for this year is to limit dairy to rides and family functions where I have minimal control.

Started taking 5g daily as well...up 1.6 lbs of muscle according to my InBody scan this morning.

Holding onto roughly a lb of extra water from a month ago. Well worth the trade off.

I don’t trust my scale enough for the muscle mass metric, and I’ve been in the gym regularly enough that the number is going up unrelated.

It's one of those InBody scans...it's relatively accurate....not a DEXA scan accurate but I've been doing them consistently over the last 6 months and the numbers seem to agree with what I'm seeing body wise. For $10 a scan, it's worthwhile to me.

Commute home drama.

Riding down Glenside I saw a Trash Panda doing circles in the middle of road and making bark noises. I tried to scoot him to the shoulder but he was being crazy and hissing.

Put the bike in the road to get cars to go around him while I went into the woods to get a stick to scoop him up. Eventually I got him to the shoulder and then like a minute later he just died.

I guess he was hit by a car just before I got to him? IDK. Was sad. Also I’ve seen Trash Pandas on Glenside almost every ride home now so I’m not sure where they’re trying to go.

Anyway, here’s some fucking Christmas Lights.

How much interference with your riding do you find you have in the days after you lift? If I do a big leg workout the next few days even trying to do a zone 2 ride my pace and power reading will take a pretty decent hit.

I won't feel great, but it really doesn't affect my ride at all. I'd imagine doing multi-day events has trained my legs to respond while fatigued.

same for me if I do a hard effort on the rower - takes an extra day or so to get rid of the muscle fatigue. But my Amazon recovery boots do help quite a bit.
