Last session of this phase. I have 2 weeks of free workouts to do whatever I want before starting whatever murder is happening next round.

Got to body weight Deadlifts and 50% Farmer's Carrys. Had Renegade DB Rows, Step-ups, DB Overheads, and Wipers also on the menu. 90 minutes.

Purposely moved this to today because we're headed up to the Adirondacks for a long weekend to get some snow work in before Polar Roll. It's a skillset that I can do in my sleep but mentally it's good to go through it.

Deadlift check-in: I’ve finally hit 205 on the deadlift but now my grip strength is not up to par. @Big Dumb Animal is telling me to get straps but I don’t think a 155lb dude walking around with weightlifting straps is gonna look right lol

Solid!!

As you start to get closer to your goal, technique can get you a long way. I understand power lifting isnt to hot on this board BUT there are certainly lesson from power lifters that cyclist can benefit from. Maybe there are some Cliff note videos on Andy Bolton’s teaching available. They talk about understanding your body all the way down to head position. In your case i would imagine your legs and hips are way superior to your posterior chain. Worth looking into as it will help prevent injury.

Straps- on the very high end of anyone’s abilities, im an advocate provided you use them properly. The squeeze should always be as if you dont have them on and match the weight as best as possible. Defaulting to a loser grip because they are on can leave your shoulders very vulnerable.

Have a look at this article if you choose. It explains a lot and with lighter weight you can truly develop the neuro muscular firing which can really help in catching a breakaway or whatever situation calling for hard efforts during races.
