Going Long and Hard.

Thats awesome that you are getting your son into the project. Best memories I have is working on cars with my dad as a kid.

Whats your plan for the car? You going to really tear it apart?

Thanks for the update; as a non-Facebooker, I've been wondering how you're doing.😀

Some cool stuff going on with the Rabbit, awesome to get your son into it.

My original plan was to take it off the road and do a frame-up resto like I did when I built my last one. As I've been playing with the car though it seems just a bit too rough to be a show car and I don't really have the fundage to compete with those kinda guys😱

So my plan B is to build it to a sweet daily driven slammed oldskool MK1 with any mods that I do being within the rules of the SCCA FSP class, the car is just too damn fun to not get on the track with it😀

The 10 foot rule will also apply😉

Here's from the test fit on the wheels last week. The stance will be a tiny bit lower and the rear wheels will be 20mm wider, spacers should be in tomorrow:getsome:

where does the water bottle gas cap fit under the rules?

I found me a stock one SON!! 😀

Actually the euro bumpers bump me up into the next class, EP, which is the class my old trailered race car was in!! Only a keen VeeDub guy would catch it though so I should be fine as long as I stay off the podium, which shouldn't be a problem at all😱

Poop, I forgot I have actual cycling related news. Cast is off!! Came off yesterday afternoon. I now have this spiffy brace thing that allows me to move my arm and whatnot, it's kinda cool. I said I was going for a bike ride and my doctor almost slapped me. This time around I may listen a little more to what he says, my way didn't seem to work out so good😱

It also brought me right back to reality with my shoulder. I kinda forgot how little movement I have. Latest X-Ray...

Back on the bike 🙂

8-week check-up today. Got the clearance for some "light" around town riding. Keep it in the hour range, don't fall, don't ride off-road, blah, blah, blah!! I jumped on the SuperFly and hit the road as soon as I got back. I went into auto-pilot and went out for my short around town loop through Rutgers and dipped onto the D&R, it's my standard way to get out of P-Way😀

Somehow I don't classify the D&R as being "off-road" even though it's made of dirt and little rocks:hmmm:Whatever, last year I wasn't even supposed to be ON a bike and I was racing 'cross!!

So? How do I feel? What are the stats like? Well. I'm still hovering right around 160 pounds, albeit that composition has changed a little bit, as to be expected. At a first glance my fitness seems to be more or less intact. Averaged over 18mph on the SuperFly along the canal, which isn't breaking any speed records by any means, but it's not as bad as I anticipated for being off the bike for 2 months. That says something about doing 4,000 miles of base😉

So I have another 30 days before my next doctor visit and I can get any more privileges, so I'll still have plenty of time to work on the Bunny😀

Bunny projects completed this week? New Poly motor mounts installed. Re-hung the exhaust tighter against the body because the car is so damn LOW. Craig at work custom made me a steering wheel hub to mount a sick OG Porsche steering wheel that Pete from work donated to the cause😉 I also have a race seat Dennis from the shop is donating to the Bunny!! Sweet!!

Oh and...This sums it up!!

PS-And, somehow I managed to completely clean out the garage in order to actually work on the car in there. That was like 100 trips to GoodWill!!

My heart sort of jumped a little when I read your title and I can only imagine how great you felt to get on that bike. It's good to see you looking so happy.🙂

Please don't do anything stooooopid. I was counting on you to be my secret training weapon this year then you went and broke your ass. I had huge plans to bug the shit out of you on FB and jump on any rides I could. Take it easy but this news is good news. Son

Did you bring that boom box with you?

I didn't notice that until you said this, now I picture him at this secluded urban setting shaking his booty next to his bike cause he's so happy to be out again. Ya know what, good for you man, shake your booty if you want just don't fall down while you are doin it.

Awesome Jim......Im glad you have the car project to keep you sane while healing. Looking sweet.

BTW, 4000 miles of base this year? Holy shit!
