Going Long and Hard.

Sweet find Dave!! It's crazy how many different takes there are on the same idea. I've been playing close attention to JayP and Joe Stiller's prep and they're more than willing to answer questions. Which is pretty awesome. I still feel like MikeSee is out of touch at this point, a legend, but out of touch. Many new things have happened since he was a contender, just think of how far we've come this year alone!!

So a couple times a year I go through a phase where I don't do anything except play my guitar 4-hours a day. It usually lasts several weeks to a month while I catch up on all the things I wanted to learn while I was out on my bicycle. I've been a musician most of my life at this point so I can't ignore that part of my personality too long or something bad might happen :hmmm:

Anywho. Here's something recent because I have no cycling content at the moment...

Aaaaannnnnd my sense of self worth takes another hit. Damn Jim, is there anything you can't do? F-ing awesome! [emoji106][emoji106]

Wow. Very nice. Not my kind of music but I like watching people play solos like these in instruments, especially guitars. One of the things in my bucket list is to learn how to play the Spanish guitar. I tried once and it was a disaster...

I fell in love with the guitar and music in general a really long time ago. My Uncle gave me a Ukulele when I was very young, maybe 2nd grade or so. I actually learned how to play it. When I got into my teen years and discovered metal bands I started playing guitar. Been playing ever since. I was in bands and did the recording/touring thing for a while before focusing more on cycling around '08ish. I was teaching guitar for a bunch of years but these days I don't have any students. Anyone want to learn? 😀

Seriously, I play a lot. Pretty much everyday, some days twice a day. Like on the mornings you don't see any posts, it's because I'm playing my guitar.

This thread makes me feel like more of a worthless turd daily.

I sold my guitar gear last year to fund my first fatty, but have had the itch lately, especially with the cold to start up again.

I have an S-Classic and a little Crate amp you can borrow 😀

PS-Other Norm, I generally don't spend much time learning covers, you don't learn anything that way except how to replay someone else's work.

I agree on this Jim. Im the same way too. Music is creating your own not being a copycat. great work by the way🙂

There seems to be a lot of ideas and innovation yet left in the race. Mikesee's perspective isn't necessarily wrong, I see his point, but things change. Edmund Hillary probably feels the same way.
I read that spot trackers without rescue buttons are to be allowed. Not as much fun if everyone doesn't have one but still would be fun to watch from the couch.

Couple years ago I bought a nice acoustic, tried to teach myself via youtube and failed pretty miserably. Which is unfortunate as it's very much a bucket list thing for me. Taking lessons from someone like Jim would be like him trying to teach a slug the alphabet.

The videos in that MTBR link (from ITI mostly I think) showed something odd ... almost no one wears helmets. Slow speeds, soft snow I guess ...

Oh and Jim - with temps down to 45 degrees below zero fahrenheit - you probably will want to remove any piercings! 🙂

You were talking to Alaska Sean on FB about winter pants or some shit, you should consult him on things, ya know, since he lives there.

You and the wife get a sitter for the Elizabethtown Concretes yet?

None of them wear helmets. Mostly because all of the sweet warm hats don't fit under a helmet.

We haven't yet. Everyone is going out for Valentine's so we might be beat.

Christmas time at the bicycle store.

I got 2 sets of them built today, I'll shoot the second set tomorrow in the daylight. Sweet set of turqoise hubs, came out SO friggin' nice!! We have another batch coming in at the end of the week so I need to finish the rest of these tomorrow. It's kinda nice building carbon fat wheels all day long 😀

-Jim.
