Fatbike or am I full of squishy $hit

Next I wanted to swap what I thought were heavy surly tubes with th Q-tubes instead they were maxxis 2.75 dh tubes bonus! Maxxis still heavier so continued swap even against JimV advice. No bulge at valves here so good to go.

It came stock with Maxxis DH tubes? Interesting. Wondering if that validates the idea of using smaller/lighter tubes or that's just what they did here.

Never had self-steer before with Nate's or Hudu's but definitely felt it with the Snoeshoes.

Nice whip, drives me crazy how much lighter the newer stuff is! Have fun, thought we might run into you sunday.

Fatty

How much do these bike weigh? I realize this seems to be the craze now. Companies have to sell product. I can see the point in perhaps riding in the snow but what am I missing here with these rides? Middle of august the thought of pulling a 35+lb bike up a hill....what am I missing???

Depends. My medium night train is at 31 lbs. If I went carbon rims and fork I'm sure it'll get to 27-28 lbs

Fatboy

My Spec Fatboy 1x11 is 32.1 with a Bluto, which weighs 2.5 lbs more than the carbon fork. My plan is to put carbon rims on it and reduce the weight about a pound, which is a rolling weight reduction.

So I could easily get it under 29 lbs. But that's meaningless in the context of the fat tub of lard that I am at 25 lbs. overweight.

Everything.

Find a friend or head to your LBS and try one out.

Venture over to fat bike forums and you will hear people unloading their non fat bikes because they are no longer being ridden. I think it really depends what kind of biker you are and only you can answer that...

Got a mattybfaty ride in before dark and my daughter's basketball game. Jumped on the PP in Chester and was delighted with mostly all single track from start to Columbia trail. Oh and the hills that wasn't in my plan, that one hill on the return was brutal. I rode to the Dally trail or that part that goes straight up to schooleys overlook, no thank you. I snapped this pic and just caught it before my phone died.

So I have about half dozen rides and today was just blissful.

Contrary to riderx post that everything is rideable Deer park was perfect for a fatbike. You really needed the float today, If you even thought trying any other bike it would be game over.

I started at 1st lot and took the road to second lot which was 4wheeled so had some tracks. After that is where skinny would have been done. I know that the lake gets some icefishing so they drag their sleds back. So I had followed those tracks to the lake and rode around on the lake. Backtracked to some single track to find it beaten down a bit nice! Plowed a little but spent 98% on the saddle. Only fresh tracks were my own. It was a good day

^need more pics of FB on snow. How many hours do you have on this thing?
Less then 8 easley. I have cut down on beers though less then 8 in two weeks so that's huge. I have spent more hours on snowshoes then the bike. Nothing rideable around here and can't get anyone to shoe with me to help the cause...

Let's talk today and coordinate. Last year I cut my own ST loop (.8 mi) from the 1st parking lot in DP, and maintained it after each snow. This year I've been confusing on riding as much as possible since I had signed up for the 50 mile race. With that done I can dedicate some time to snowshoeing.

So bringing this back because of broken bike.

So far Alex at RSD responded to my Email within 2 minutes - real deal customer service
I will keep tabs here on how the process goes.

Am I sad NO!
I was on the fence as it was to order a new 2016 frame because of many upgrade improvements.
2016 models have gone to formed hydro tubing, beefed up chainstays with 197mm thru axle, more important to me is the 69* head tube.
It looks more all around and less snowbike. They also went from a 135mm front fork to a 150mm so swaping from sussy to rigid EZ.

Another thing that has happened is RSD has become a direct to customer sales with the bikes spec even better then before for less then what I even paid.
No house parts BS straight up quality parts. Free Shipping! Yup that's right BOOM!

Peep them out as they have a number of plus bikes too...

And that was a hell of a roof drop you did to break that frame. I'm only sorry I had my phone in selfie mode while taking the video.

Unfortunately I think my mind is made. I need gears as my knees are giving me the middle finger lately on the SS. I was almost certain that an enduro type bike was in my future but then thought I already DH and have a DH bike so that fix is already taken care of.

Summers are spent road and DHing where as winters are my typical x/c ride time which makes sense to go fat. Another reason is I like rigid, less moving parts equals more riding and less down time. Seems to me a no brainer as I am not a racer boy cock fighter see how far I can piss type.

My mind is also made on which one as the Fat boy seems to be well liked and rode super well as I got to swing a leg over on Dan Matthews at Jungle Sunday. So yes to those I said I would never, well looks like never has come. Stay tuned...

You need to ride a hightower.
