I think I'm going to troll on a 12-speeds thread and whine and bitch about them renaming my drive to Eagle to make myself feel superior because I haven't accepted the evolution of cycling to 12 speeds yet and accuse people there that they're too lazy to stay with 11 speeds and need the 12th gear to go uphill.

What about people who lock out the largest cog on Eagle, cause they just can't spin that fast?

Try pulling them off the wall. You can't even ride a single speed for 30 years without replacing everything 🤣
Of course I've replaced the chain a couple of times and the cassette once, but otherwise the 8 spd has been reliable on the Colnago for many thousands of miles. Once in awhile I'll clean and repack the hub bearings (vintage, loose ball type) and it's surprising how nicely the races clean up - they look and spin like new when I'm done. Record parts made back then were built to last. The shifters and derailleurs were new when I bought them in 1993 (shifters were 1992 leftover parts). The brakes and hubs were bought used in the late 90's.

The 10 spd parts I haven't had as long, but I've put over 1000 miles on them so far (I still ride the Colnago more often and especially on longer rides). They were used parts installed on the Grade in early 2020. I probably will replace these with 11 spd - mainly because I want to use the bike on my Kickr and I haven't been able to get a 10 spd cassette that works on available hub-bodies.

That said, I've been debating on finally retiring the Colnago and getting a newer, more comfortable road bike with disc brakes and wide, comfy tires. That bike will likely have AXS mostly because I already have two mtn bikes with GX AXS shifting and an AXS Reverb and I lean towards having one battery type to keep track of. This will likely happen before I buy an e-Bike for the dirt.

I was always able to get on from either side of the bike so I thought that was normal until I saw that my son can only get one from one side. I thought that was the weirdest thing and I yelled at him for it but I guess it's more common that I realized.
