I rode my ebike out and back i managed to average 23mph but it honestly feels a lot faster. Even a normal car ride you would be surprised your average speed is probably 10mph slower than you think.

Does an FTP trigger flagging?

For KOMs it does. I set a bunch of KOMs on road climbs through the Watchung Ridge on my Fat Bike and they all got pulled. I sent Strava my raw Garmin Files and they told me pound sand. I now use the free version because they overwrite all your data based on their Algorithms.

i saw someone get second and didn't believe first place so they reported him.
I was on the 1st place ride, and first place was legit. (pro mtb riding a $10k mtb down stanton mt road vs a roadie)
no joy.

you know..that's all that matters.

Imo there should be no KOM in the e bike category on Strava. It’s just a test of equipment with a e bike…. Look up Luna bikes if you have any doubts.

so I had to go look this up....the Luna X2 with 2500w ludicrous mode

holy hell...FIFTY EIGHT pounds! With that rockshox yari and those brakes....that thing is probably terrifying on anything but an uphill.

And im fine with ebikes having their own KOMs....if you going to play the strava video game using a motor, then someone might have a bigger one than you do.....Same as regular bikes....that problem is easily fixed the same way it is with any other motorsport....most money wins.

How much do motos weigh and they man handle those things around? Since you don't need to climb that hard on an ebike, you can make the bike slack and move/lean the seat back. Let the bike handle the uphills then cruise down like an early 2000's DH bike.

I agree with the deletion of an ebike category, it is dangerous.

they do have segments, but they are e-bike specific. there aren't many.

The only bikes legally allowed on the trail are class A, and
class A bikes are only faster uphill than a fit rider. I wouldn't be able to hold Utah's wheel on a flat or dh.
It is still a workout. Maybe i'll try this out at WCW one of these days.

Look for eBikeFest coming soon (well prob 2023.)

If the argument is more people will be going faster, isn't that the goal, e-bike or not?

Some guy on an ebike went by me at 6MR while i was working on the bridge.
He was just tooling along normal speed - only it was a throttle bike with no pedals.
Didn't look crazy, fairly sure he couldn't throw a rooster tail.

Did I miss something? Did you get an e-bike then?

my CRF 450R was like 220lbs dry weight IIRC....but it had 48mm forks as I recall, HUGE brakes, a proper chassis to handle ~50horsepower....It was designed and built for that much weight/power....58lbs on what looks like a down country/enduro bike frame/suspension....id bet money that its scary going downhill. I would say that for the most part (unless its being ridden by a REALLY skilled downhiller) if you put me on an ebike, I doubt I would be any faster on a downhill. I dont think they are any more dangerous downhill...(the modern, non POS ones)..someplace like 6mile tho? I can certainly see your point. Regular yahoos have almost killed my son there on a few occasions.

Strava is all fake anyway, you want a trophy, pin on a number or STFU.
so I shouldnt get annoyed when e-bikers take my uphill KOMs? 🙂

If you're talking about long climbs up a fire road then yes, it's who has the biggest motor.
If it's more technical terrain than that's a different story. All the normal analog bike techniques still apply. You still have to worry about pedal strikes.
Bunny hops and manuals are also tougher on a heavier e-bike and require better technique.

Like on a shirt or the bike? Where does one pin this number? I’m still not sure how this gets you a KOM on Strava?

Asking for a friend. Willing to try anything.

You want a Strava KOM? Here you go. Don't even have to spend the money on an E-Bike.
