I will be sitting there watching the big ass grin on Spencer's face when he throws a leg over my motor bike 😁

It will be documented LoL...

I’ll also offer that additional stabilization muscles are activated when throwing around a bike at 2x the static weight. Nothing like on my ktm woods bike at nearly 250 lbs, but it is a noted charge in handling From a muscle bike. That’s what the Germans call them I hear.
Love it!

I'll add that the real muscle workout comes from smaller wheels. 😉

That is definitely something my friend has mentioned about riding her Heckler. But in a past life (the 80's) she was East Coast body building champion, so upper body strength isn't something she has to worry about. Still... she says doing big moves on techy climbs is a fair bit more challenging than on her lighter non-assisted bikes.

So ebike is faster?

I was surprised to see the runner destroy the guy on the analog bike in just a climb with minimal tech. I would expect to see this in a longer, high tech route - like the sourland mountain preserve 5 mile white trail counter-clockwise loop. That was the genesis of my challenge to Pat which he was never able to win.

I think it is this: you can have the same fitness benefit, if you want to. Not sure the average person will be doing the same work if the motor was there to help.
This^^^^^^ It's all what you put into it. Just like anything else.

why ? the analog bike guy has an extra 25lbs and all the drag of a drivetrain to suck the power.

bike does better on the downhill

I'd guess it would be more stress on the neuromuscular system from going faster with the same cardio effort.
Need to absorb bigger hits, work on staying upright while being kicked off line, etc.
Everything is suddenly happening faster - at least on the uphill or flat.
#learnToTurn
There is no reasonable and consistent way measure this.

So you're saying a runner beats a cyclist on uphills and flats? 🤣

Which one is @Patrick and which one is @rick81721 ? I know @jShort wss the one to drop this awhile ago

@jdog @Bike N Gear are you seeing any legit sales competition from the motorcycle shops? I was at cross country in metuchen last week to watch the Wyoming BDR movie premiere and they had this display right up front (Intense and Giant):

I'm too busy competing with my #1 brand to worry about motorcycle shops. Maybe I'll stop by later and check them out.

Ebikes: you can’t burn out

Also ebikes

I've seen that done without an e-bike. Hell... we used to try doing that with our BMX bikes decades ago. More a test of balance and surface conditions. I'd imagine it's just a bit easier to spin the rear wheel and drift around like that with the motor helping.

MTB would win on the flats and downs, but a fit runner wins on the more moderate to steeper climbs. To put it into perspective, course record up Mt. Washington for a runner is 56:41, on a road bike its 49:24 for the men, 58:14 ladies. I'd be willing to empirically test this using my son who rides and runs, do it on one of his hill training days.

Look at VT 50 results.

Obviously a cyclist has mechanical advantage and wins in almost all scenarios. But highly technical + climbing = runner can win. It would be interesting to see if anyone here can beat the runner time on the sourlands white trail ccw. Best running time is 40:30. Good luck!

I wonder how they price them. MC dealers don't do price + tax in my recent experience. It's price + tax + shipping + 'setup fee' + random-thing-we-made-up-fee.

The younger Ducati salesman (MTBer too, apparently) there is a straight-to-your-face liar. I just feel I should share that. 🙂
