I know what an airplane is. What I saw near my house was treetop height. I stopped and got out with my son and watched it pass over slowly. Minimal noise. This was not an airplane but for some reason you are so confident the government isn’t lying to us. What about the white balls seen in mendham?
No white balls here in Mendham.

I have a dumb question. How does pointing a laser pointer at a plane, possibly blind a pilot? Does it expand the further distance it travels? @UtahJoe educate me please.

lasers don't lose power at a distance the way a flashlight does.
it does, but it is acting more like a particle (coherent and directional) of light than a wave (like a ripple from a rock hitting water.)

They aren't talking laser pointer - think more of a dance club/laser rock show type.

Please re-watch Real Genius for more useful info.

In pre-flight info, laser shows and experiments are in the NOTAMs (notice to airmen) along the intended route.

Well the cockpit is usually dark, full of windows refracting the lights.....I think the most important thing is that it is a distraction to the pilot while the aircraft is in close proximity to the ground...take off/landing.........MANY MANY bad things have happened when pilots are distracted......on an airliner there is the “sterile cockpit” rule for take offs and landings where pilots are not even supposed to be having non essential conversation.

I mean if I am a passenger on this flight i'd like to find the guy with the laser and stab them in the eye with it 🙂

As someone working on the periphery of the mining industry, there is definitely high drone usage in surface mining. Especially when blasting is part of the equation. Using his source. https://thediggings.com/ Not many active mines in NJ. And looking at his map, the dot in Cape May is a wetlands natural area and bird watching spot. His observation is a bit of a stretch.

Some examples to explain why there might be drones around mining operations. Enjoy this Youtube rabbit hole!
