Deer Park Conditions

I dropped into DP from the Panther Valley mall today to chase after this big one on the deer path trail (between barberry and lake view trail intersections).. That entrance horribly overgrown, I even had to whip out the chainsaw to get thru it. To my knowledge this catches me up in Deer Park. Please keep the Intel coming. Thx.

That changed quickly. I was there 1.5 weeks ago and it was just starting to get overgrown.
I haven't been in because I have long history in this park, with zero representation it becomes a Pariah.

I'll spare you the time.
Overgrowth really bad
I came out bloody and loaded with ticks
Let me know how accurate I was
Overgrowth on the new entry was on the way to pretty bad, and there was a guy in a car who really needed to get a room. Lot's of midges. One tick. Lot's of nicely chainsawed logs, well done! Oh, and a spooked a raccoon who gave me a baleful stare.

I don't have direct answer, can only speculate. I'm sure it has something to do to private road closure to the main lot.

Yesterday I rode through the park, it's not worth the blood loss. I came across an illegal encampment at the lake. Why do these people camp in their garbage, it's just spread throughout the campsite which was my stop for meditation, so very sad to see.

I did notice the state park workers did a hack back a section next to the 7/11 trail that looks like a possibility of new parking spot, we shall see.

I did report the illegal camping but doubtful our state park police did anything about it.

Status Report on Deer Park:

It's a MESS!!! Many trees down. We did a typical loop from the school. The trail going away from the school is in great shape just really overgrown but no trees down in that area. Be prepared for a mighty lashing from all the overgrowth🤨

As you go towards the rogue trail, the trails are all good. Once you get to rogue though, it really gets messy. See photos.

After you get out of rogue most of the fun downhill sections are pretty clear. Until you get to the yellow trail. There is a massive tree down. Probably the biggest tree I've ever seen down on a trail.

For reference also, here is that monster tree!

Thanks for the excellent intel! Yes, that's a chubby one. One of JORBA's long 25" bar saws will be issued to me fairly soon, and then I have a chance against that one. My enemy right now is scheduling availability.
