The original east coast Winter Ultra is returning to it's roots for version 3.0, and expanding them. Choose either a 200K that'll run the D&L Trail from Washington's Crossing, PA to it's end in White Haven, or a full self-supported 400k monster that will also make the return trip back down to Washington's Crossing. It will be cold. There will be snow. Well, hopefully there will be snow.

Registration is OPEN. Start pedaling.

D&L? Isn't it the Delaware and Raritan Canal or am I missing something clever you did there?

I have a fat bike and I could pump out 200s if motivated. Doing a 200km Fatty? Not likely but I applaud the effort you have put in.

The D&L starts in Bristol, PA and runs 165 miles up to White Haven. For this we're going to start in Stockton, head south to Bristol (1st checkpoint), turn around and pass Stockon (2nd checkpoint), up to Easton (3rd checkpoint), and then back to Stockton for the finish. The out and back format will allow for bailouts if people choose. Like if someone wanted to do the first 65 miles and call it quits for example. We'd also be passing people on the return sections in case someone has an issue they could get help. You'll never be more than 30ish miles from the start/finish area.

We may add a 65 mile option or even a team option if there's interest.

Are you actually starting in pa or nj? The pa side of the river is called centerbridge and lumberville where the Ped bridge comes over from bulls island.

Cool deal btw.

It will start on the trail in the PA side. Parking and such will be in Stockton. If Bulls Island is open we'll start at the ped bridge but I heard the park is closed. Anyone know if that's true?

I park there and do rides often. The ranger station has people working there. The camping area is now closed. I believe due to frequent storm damage.

I was planning to start riding in December so this could be a great start 🙂 What's the course like? Hard pack/ gravel/ fire roads or more like single track? Lots of climbing? I might be game for the 100 Km if the course is similar to Columbia Trail 🙂

On second thought, I'm out
In a previous post you mentioned it being similar to the Tuscobia Winter Ultra Marathon
Nothing could be further from the truth
Doesn't the Tuscobia go through wilderness?
This is a bike path, you could pull off and get a large pizza
What's the coarse like? Flat, finely crushed shale, it's a bike path.
125 mile race on a bike path??? What are the fat tires for?
Bahh
I'll stick to the pine barrens
I can ride a 125 mile loop there and not see a soul

Tuscobia is also on a towpath trail and cuts through towns, goes along roads, etc. It's not secluded by any stretch of the imagination.

The point of this isn't to do an NUE style race, those already exist.

It will be a long day in the saddle, off road, with other fat bikers doing the same. That's why we made the entry fee so low instead of the hundreds of dollars an NUE event would cost.

If the trails you ride offer 100s of miles of secluded riding, consider promoting a race, we could be sitting on a fat winter ultra series 😀

Pancake flat and hardpack, unless we get snow, then it will be brutal!!

This is kind of a shitty post. Sorry.

Jim & Hilltop are doing something. You know, like 99.9% of the people out there don't do. They saw an opportunity to do something, to make something happen. Maybe it's not the perfect race. Maybe it won't cure cancer or lower the tax rate in NJ. But at least they're doing something. And for that, I applaud them & the effort they put in.

Thanks Jim for trying to make something happen. The effort is appreciated.

I think it's a great idea. I picked up my first fatty, (a Mukluk 3) a couple of weeks ago and I have to say, fatties are awesome. The fitness isn't there this go around, but this would be one heck of a carrot to dangle. Kudos to you Jim!
