Conditions?

Anyone know the conditions? Last night up here in Mahwah (think exit 168) we had a big storm roll though and we were thinking of going tomorrow or the next day.

Trails looked & felt good today. Took some parts of the Blue trail & finished up doing the Orange trail. The rain probably helped a bit in compacting the sand, well at least for now, until it dries & loosen up again.😉

As far as how to dress, all i have are the shorts??? i havent been out riding in months time to get back into it, what shouild i wear so i can be warm and still not get too hot once we start going???? what do you do for your legs???

Wear knee warmers under your shorts, there perfect for this time of year.

this year I started wearing the arm warmers and I am getting a pair of the leg ones.
as I normally wear bibs anyway I picked up a paradox thermal set from costco this is my goto layer and I can peel it off if I get to warm and pack it.

BTW if you are around a few peeps from work are going to ride Sun. 08:00 friendly no drop pace..

I rode yesterday, the trails were great. Rode an 8 mile loop mostly Orange trail but we tried to do Tiger Woods for the first tiime. I don't know if we shoulda made a left at Albequrque or what but we got to the bottom of the first hill and were near the river and then went over a small wood slat bridge then a little metal ladder, then kinda hooked a left and were along a 10 ft cliff and dead ended at some swamp. Saw some bike tracks going through it, we tried to figure out where to go but it was too swampy.

Is Tiger Woods a dry season only loop or did we make a wrong turn?

It looks to be based on the hak map that I downloaded here that when you get to the top of the windy hill on the orange trail you should make a left. Is there any kind of land mark for Tiger Woods?

From the top of the windy hill- First you go straight, then bare right, then make a left. Then go to the right once you get on TW.
Hope this helps.😀
And I wouldnt call it a hak map. Its actually good once you learn your way around. Some people worked pretty hard to get it as good as it is now. The trails not shown on the maps are the ones you shouldnt be on anyway.

This sounds like you ended up on the Coke trail. It ran right next to the river, right? Next time go straight on rte 4 towards Denver j/k 😉 PM me sometime, and I'll give ya a tour. You really want to avoid the fire swamp and the ROUS's. 😉

+1 on that. 2 guys from this forum worked real hard to make this map as good as it is. It's not their fault tbat people cut trail wherever 20-30 years ago. So take back the hack map comment or we will throw you in the pit of despare (sp). wtf is with the movie refs today? 😉

if it was too swampy you wern't at allaire cause we all know it's too sandy 🙂
gotta second the tour post tiger is a fun trail once you find it it is on the map right before you hit the switch backs to the start of the trail you were on...

I'm the hack that made the map, thank you ;-) With a lot of help from Bill (Glenlivet12), his GPS data and our combined knowledge of the park.
You definitely were not on Tiger Woods. The trail you speak of is a rogue trail that I intentionally left off the map. 1) because it's an illegal trail 2) because it's a shitty, non sustainable trail that does not drain well 3) I pretty much avoid going down there all together and It's just a waste of time.

Tiger Woods is an awesome trail but it is not marked with blazes. I don't believe it is officially recognized by the park as a sanctioned trail. (Frank would know). Therefor I can understand how one would have trouble finding it.

Allaire can be confusing to navigate even with a map. There are so many trails and trail junctions that it could seem like a cluster fuck. You'll get the hang of it once you ride there a few more times. It's an uber fun place to ride. I do hope that our map helps to some extant. We did put a lot of time into it.

That reminds me, there have been several rerouts lately. I'll need to update the map.

Yeah, meant to get some gps info last tm but never got out on the bike. You've got a garmin now right? We should go for a ride when I get back. Fix up that POS map we made... 🙄

Yes, I have GPS info for the new re-routs. I was there on Thursday. Maybe I'll update it later tonight.

Hope you and Lisa are enjoying your trip!

Fat Bearded Bitch-boy is our resident jerk. :wedgie:

Nah, I think dudeman has the newer map. Tiger Woods is not on any of the older maps...to my knowledge.

Rogue Trail?

Are you sure that's a rogue trail? You get there close to the burms, go down a steepish trail, pass over one of two skinnies and then travel along the river all the way to the golf course (by the snack shack). There were a few bridges on the trail. Before last winter this trail was excellent, one of the best in the park. Last winter washed out a bunch of the good bridges. I went down there a couple of weeks ago and went all the way until the 'swamp' (the swamp used to be completely dry and didn't dry out all summer). Actually, we rode / walked through the 'swamp' and then the trail dried out nicely.

With all the nice trail work and bridges down there I don't think that could have been a rogue trail. And if it was, we, the biking community, should look at it again and see if we can do something with it because it is awesome down by the river.
